Can I have a link to a cab of the full qwerty keyboard you used? I've tried a couple opal keyboards, but yours has worked the best that I've seen.
JJ

Edit...
I posted here, thinking it was the alltel manilla rom thread.
My bad...

The cab doesn't bring up the overwrite. It makes it easier. If you had just copied the .dll it would ask about the overwrite. Gotta love cab installers!

Hmm. It is in there already. I just verified it works for me. I see 3 devices listed for you. Which one(s) are not working?

Re: Custom Weather Database 10/21/2008 - City Request Accepted (works with Manilla)

I installed the cab located on the last page and all it did was lock my phone up. Guess I wasn't reading too hard as I had already installed the htc home 6 tab. Either way, I can't do anything with my phone now. Not good.

Update: I ended up having to hard reset. Oh well, I guess that's what backups are for.

Okay, i am really wanting to update my weather since the closest towns are Dallas and Shreveport.

I tried doing this a couple of weeks ago and completely screwed up my phone! :) Yes, i am a novice at all of this.

can someone post some simple instructions for me? I need the towns: Longview, Texas (75606) and Gilmer, Texas (75644).

Remember, simple is better for me! I have the HTC Touch through Alltel.

Thanks a bunch!

Those cities are in the database. Instructions and files are in the first post of this thread.

I have the Sprint 6.1 update and I had to hard reset my phone the first time (probably because I did something wrong) but the second time it worked, although when I can click on a new city it says its unable to retrieve data. (Bend, Oregon) The answer might be in this thread but after reading all the pages I just can't remember if I saw it. Plus could Corvallis(97330), and Albany(97321) in Oregon be added. Thanks

Re: Custom Weather Database 11/11/2008 - City Request Accepted (works with Manilla)

Superman, check the first post. Make sure you reinstall the patched .dll and custom cities. Corvallis and Albany added for the next update.

Re: Custom Weather Database 11/11/2008 - City Request Accepted (works with Manilla)

I have the patch and the file downloaded, but nothing happens. The file with all of the cities is on the mobile device, but when i click to open it, it pulls up opera and just sits there, it will not open, nor download on my phone.

Re: Custom Weather Database 11/11/2008 - City Request Accepted (works with Manilla)

Okay, for this to work you need to replace the .xml file in windows with the custom cities file, using a file manager such as Total Commander. the .dll is a cab installer that patches the HTC home to point to a different server and should install correctly. This should fix it.

I just installed the leaked Verizon 6.1 rom and when i try and replace the .dll it locks up and i have to hard reset, any ideas. I have cooked 6.1 roms and never had this issue with custom cities

Re: Custom Weather Database 11/11/2008 - City Request Accepted (works with Manilla)

Same thing happens to me, thats why I had to do a hard reset as I mentioned earlier. The city database installs fine but only the original cities work (in my case Salem, OR) but others don't. When I replace the HTCHome.dll and soft reset my phone it freezes during the boot up. (usually only the start menu shows, once I got my background to show and twice my activesync screen but besides that the phone doesn't operate) I have the Sprint 6.1 Rom

I have a M2D Rom and I can't get this to work on my phone. I try to copy this file to my \Windows folder and it says the file is write protected and it does not let me copy. Even after I disable touchFlo.

Am I missing ssomething?

Re: Custom Weather Database 11/11/2008 - City Request Accepted (works with Manilla)

Copy it to the device. Use Total Commander or other file explorer to copy it to the Windows folder. If you try to do it with activestink it won't let ya.

So I can't get it to work. I install the cities database but none of the new ones work. I tried to install the htc home file but everytime it makes my phone freeze and have to do a hard reset. I even tried the htc 6 tab cab and it wont install. I'd really like to make this work. Any ideas form anyone? I have the Sprint Rom 6.1

Hi... I cant seem to get Bellingham, WA to work. It can't download data. Also, I noticed that you used 98225 for the zipcode in the XML, but I believe 98226 is for the greater Bellingham area.

Thanks in advance!

Mike

Reading these post makes my head spin. I installed the weatherdatabase but it would not add cities, so hooover suggested to take a looky here. There seems to be so many different ways to get the updates to work that I am confused. I have a sprint touch with no updates roms ect. I checked and have HTChome.dll in my windows folder, do I need to change that with a different file? I don't want to install the wrong one and have my new PPC freeze. Or should I install Total Commander and use that to load the new weater file.

Yes, You need the patched .dll since it points to a custom server that makes it all work. You also need the custom database. To transfer the files, Total Commander will get it done.

I downloaded the .dll last night and my touch kept freezing and/or restarting. I was able to boot up in safe mode(I think the safe mode prompt kicked in after three consecutive restarts in a two minute time period, it might be a seperate program for safe mode don't remember) then copied my original .dll back into \windows that I saved in a seperate folder incase any problems happened which it did. If all else fails there's always hard reset.

Edit: On a side note I did find two ways to edit my personal weather but it was a different approach than suggested.
