Re: Custom Weather Database 11/11/2008 - City Request Accepted (works with Manilla)
To replace the xml, Total Commander or other file manager will work. Conflipper and I have the entire US in database files so adding any city is possible. We just can't put the whole thing in because it's a HUGE file, so we pull from it for requests. I'll add your request in by the weekend, and get it to Conflipper for uploading.

Re: Custom Weather Database 11/11/2008 - City Request Accepted (works with Manilla)
I ran Total Commander, and was dismayed that its directory tree works fine on the PC but when you go to Mobile Device, it just won't show any part of the device's directories so I could not copy the xml file to it. Duhhhhh! I'll keep trying. You can open up Windows Explorer from Total Commander, but that's going back to square one; Explorer won't let me copy a modified xml file to the /windows directory of the mobile device.

![]() ![]() Okay, The Total Commander I refer to is the one for your PPC, not desktop. It's a file explorer and more for your PPC. I have attached the cab installer for TC, and you'll need to copy it to yopur PPC and run it there to install. Once you've done that, The process is as follows. 1) copy custom weather file to PPC. 2) Open Total Commander on PPC and surf to file. 3) Click on the custom weather file and copy/move to \Windows (on PPC) 4) Soft-reset.

Re: Custom Weather Database 11/11/2008 - City Request Accepted (works with Manilla)
Follow this link, read up and install the proper file(s) and either patch your HTC Home .dll or replace it with the Vogue patch .dll
http://weather.not2advanced.com/files/ As to the format for your city, it should use either one of these. Copy these entries into your .xml on your PC and transfer to device. <city name="WILMINGTON, NC" loca="28409" land="North Carolina" /> <city name="WILMINGTON, NC" loca="28412" land="North Carolina" /> |

Re: Custom Weather Database 11/11/2008 - City Request Accepted (works with Manilla)
Will try above and post back with results, Guitardoc, thanks much!
OK Doke...here's the follow up. SDK certificate install: Check. Vogue/Sprint dll upgrade, wuhhhh....it froze up the mobile phone which then booted into safe mode. Then I didn't know what to do so I just installed the htc home that was on that page, and that restored the phone back. I then had to move the weather xml file over to /htchome/ directory, and then whew......I've finally got the thing going and got my Wilmington NC weather!! For a little while there I thought the phone was bricked!! There was really no need for that Vogue/Sprint DLL I don't think. Anyone trying it, watch out!! But thanks much...the end result is satsifactory. In fact, I got comm manager back on my launcher tab, whereas before I had deleted it and found later when I wanted it back I could not add it back! Thx again, Roger Last edited by DrRoger; 12-24-2008 at 03:41 PM. |
