I'm gonna guess you were previously using my 3.03 custom (sprint based) it has the full QWERTY keyboard, the 3.09 based roms do not.
If you want a similar keyboard that would match m2d perfect, install this one...

who is your carrier? yeah, ya gotta make sure you don't let customizations run when flashing a official.

well again, I'm not too familiar with BTPAN, but I can tell you when I open ICS, I now have 2 options for "pc connection", USB & BT PAN. I did not have the BT PAN option before adding that code
