YOU WILL LOSE YOUR CONTACTS.

Go to:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1806

Install PIM backup, run and save to storage card, flash new ROM, install PIM backup again, restore.

Anyone know how to edit the Sprint today plugin? I know it's a ql_skin_p.xml and ql_skin_l.xml file but seems to be locked by the ROM.

If you sync your contacts to your laptop. Then after the install, you just re-sync and all your contacts are back. I think it's a good idea to sync contacts to a computer anyway. I call it insurance. I have hundreds of contacts and would hate to think of losing them.

You run it on your computer with your phone connected via USB.

Since there has been 2 leaked releases with this last one appearing to be fully functioning, how far off do we think it'll be until its officially released by Sprint/HTC?

You need a Registry Editor, like PHM or Resco.

Someone a page or two back posted a cab that will make that registry change for you.

some folks have evdo rev.a networks from other carriers in their area, when their primary carrier has not yet upgraded their network

thus, by forcing roaming, the use the other carriers network and as a result, are able to achieve much higher network throughput and response time

I have both Spb Backup 2.0 and Sprite Backup 6... Both claim to have the ability to backup and restore to updated ROMs, but I am loath to try this. Has anyone put either of these backup softwares to the test with the new Sprint ROM?

I believe theres a MSVC 1.6 CAB around here somewhere if you search. It does not require an OEM to incorporate it into your rom.

this is how it was explained to me ...

the backup utilities do a great job of restoring everything, when the restore process is executed against the SAME BASE ROM

i.e.

A backup that is restored on top of Windows XP Gold may not work as well as you might like, if used to restore on top of Windows XP SP3. The anaology is somewhat flawed because a pc doesn't have ROM which cannot be overwritten by a restore process, but I hope it is close enough to be understandable.

-boggsie

This is for the Vogue only. You will brick your device if you force a flash.

I should have mentioned that I did that already. It's when I try to copy back that it gives me a protection error. I even tried copying using Resco Explorer but it also slams that.

Any suggestions?

This is for the Vogue/Touch, not the Mogul. Check the Mogul forum for their ROM.

I think they changed/added something with the PPST file in this ROM. The version is now 2.04 instead of 2.03, so that's probably related to GPS and the radio.

EDIT: You don't need to manually run the PPST file with this ROM, it updates the PRI automatically during the customizations like it should have in the leaked ROM.

What if we have a different carrier? How can we get the PRI to update since we can't let the customizations to run?

You could run PPST.exe manually from the Windows directory... but that blew me outta the water.... so don't do that.

I was able to restore to a previous PRI thankfully...

Re: NEW official Sprint ROM posted on XDA-dev by DCD

I couldn't get it to work. Ended up having to get my phone back to the alltel firmware. I couldn't get it past the boot screen. I read up on taking care of the issue - put the alltel nbh file on a fat32 sd card. Booted in flash mode - it put the alltel firmware on the phone so I can use it again. However the firmware update still won't run - goes into rainbow screen - says updating but no progress.

with this leaked rom, There are 2 nbh files - 1.nbh and 2.nbh can I update the firmrware on the phone using this same method? Do I first run the 1 nbh in firmware update mode off a SD card - reset and then run the second?

Thanks

PS I just noticed it says in the readme it will update it to 3.5.0 but when I run the update utility it says image version 0.0.0 - do I need to rename the nbh file or something. My nbh files in the update I downloaded are called 1.nbh and 2.nbh.
