Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS

New user, new poster here -- Thought I'd share my story and ask a couple of questions.

I got my XV6900 about two weeks ago. I want my GPS, so I've been holding out for Verizon to release their ROM, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. And even if it does, I have a feeling they're not going to unlock the GPS (one Verizon guy told me GPS was available on my phone, but he wouldn't "guarantee" that it would work with any program other than Verizon's VZNavigator).

Anyway, so I nervously flashed my ROM to OMJ's custom. I was pretty sure I bricked it a couple of times, but luckily I didn't.

After I flashed it, everything worked great. I haven't had any problems with any systems (internet, messaging, bluetooth, etc.). I only had to dial #28801 to update. I did have one "hiccup". While I was on the phone yesterday, it randomly rebooted. After that, I couldn't dial out -- I was getting authentication error messages. No problem though, I called Verizon and they fixed it.

I do have two quick questions (ok, three):

1. How do I uninstall programs that came with OMJ's custom version, if that's possible? I like most of them, but some I don't need.

2. Is there any way to move installed programs from the phone to the storage card?

3. What are the phone codes for?

Thanks for everything. You guys don't realize how much people like me read your posts and rely on your superior knowledge!
Welcome You have to manually delete the .lnk files for the programs to delete them, they should be located in the /windows folder. Even after, there may be traces of them still (which you probably will never see) in the registry etc... Manually reinstalling the programs to the storage card is the best way to get them there (via .cab installer file). The phone codes are really useless if you have no knowledge with them. You rarely need them if ever. They are mainly for diagnostics purposes or sometimes, advanced purposes which I highly doubt will ever need. The only one you need to know is *228 to update your connectivity.
