What rom are you using?

EDIT: I added network connection settings in the "Troubleshooting" part of the Tutorial, Hope that helps!!!

And thank you Ka911!!!

Well it gets more interesting. I flashed the new sprint and then DCD's VZW 19588 rom. Didn;t work the first time so I just flashed again with the vzw rom without starting all over. Now, I tried to have verizon reauthenticate and didnt work from thier end. They had me dial ##778 to bring up the ppst app. When I tried to enter the unlock code, 000000, it came back with code incorrect. The tech said thats the only code they use, something is terribly wrong with the phone and they are sending a new one. I will have it tomorrow, Tuesday. Now, I am wondering if I should have staarted over from the very beginning, doing the sprint rom, etc. maybe that is the problem. The other problem I will have is I have to return this phone. So, I need to brick it. Anybody know how to do that so they can't tell I flashed the rom? thank for advice and listening.

Nice collection, also you can add this trick:

If you can't get your phone authenticated back onto the network, REMOVE the battery for a minute. Then start the phone back up and dial *22801

This can be done instead of calling for a new a-key.

This will program a phone to alltel on the eastcoast. Altell is "b" side here. the correct one for eastcoast is *22800 as vzw is "a" side here.

I would also like to know if anyone was a preferred bricking method for returns or if ti is necessary at all to protect yourself.

From all of the forums I have read, you have a very good chance of being charged, somewhere down the road even if they see a flash. Too much $$ to not just brick it altogether!

Check the PRI version in Device Information (system settings). If it is higher than 1.37_002, Verizon data will not work. Letting Sprint customization run or running PPST will load a higher PRI. You can try the suggestion in negamann's post # 332214 (page 5 on this thread). I purposely bricked my phone by pulling the plug halfway through an update and exchanged it.

Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS

I have a XV6900 that I bought a few weeks ago (already has crack in shell) and was peeking at these roms.. Alot of you are doing it for the GPS feature however I have a GPS in my car so its not a priority thing for me. I am however interested in Rev.A, how much of an improvement is it? I've seen the list of improvements of WM6.1 vs 6 and that is also nice..

do the roms by any chance improve call reception? im thinkng not.

thanks for your time.

This phone is already on Verizon's faster data network. I didn't notice any real change in download from stock to custom.

As for reception, I would say the same thing, no real difference.

If you don't care about gps and WinMo 6.1 and apps that run off Java you may want to just consider install what additions you can on your stock IMO.
