Check the PRI version in Device Information (system settings). If it is higher than 1.37_002, Verizon data will not work. Letting Sprint customization run or running PPST will load a higher PRI. You can try the suggestion in negamann's post # 332214 (page 5 on this thread). I purposely bricked my phone by pulling the plug halfway through an update and exchanged it.

Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS

I have a XV6900 that I bought a few weeks ago (already has crack in shell) and was peeking at these roms.. Alot of you are doing it for the GPS feature however I have a GPS in my car so its not a priority thing for me. I am however interested in Rev.A, how much of an improvement is it? I've seen the list of improvements of WM6.1 vs 6 and that is also nice..

do the roms by any chance improve call reception? im thinkng not.

thanks for your time.

This phone is already on Verizon's faster data network. I didn't notice any real change in download from stock to custom.

As for reception, I would say the same thing, no real difference.

If you don't care about gps and WinMo 6.1 and apps that run off Java you may want to just consider install what additions you can on your stock IMO.

Their update is creeping on us. I i've read that the new rom coming out supports REV.A and the stock radio doesn't

I beleive the Vzw stock has Rev A now. I know someone at Verizon who told me this who is usually acurate. However he isn't technical so it is possible there was a misunderstanding if you are positive.

question, if i reflash, will I have the same issue of having to have verizon send a signal to my phone, they were asking to many questions, plus i dont have another verizon phone I can switch the ESN to. let me know. Also, is your new cooked version a noticable difference that I should flash to it

thanks you rock!

No you don't need to reauthenticate after flashing roms. Was just necessary for the radio update you shouldn't have to do again.
This post has been thanked 1 times.

sweet you rock too!

sooooooooo i just have to re-add all own stuff.

is there a difference? or any real reason to reflash it?

I seem to have problems locking, sometimes I have to do a reset and then it works. is there something I can do to "prime the pump" on the gps.

Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS

Hey all, I'm new here and just read through this thread, but I have a few questions...Last week I got the Verizon VX6900, and it's indeed a very awesome phone. I'm interested in "upgrading" it to take advantage of the GPS. So here's my questions...

1. It sounds like you most definitely have to call Verizon at least once to get the phone working again through the upgrade progress. I'm on a family plan right now (it's just more affordable) so I'd like to know exactly what information they will require from me to get my phone online again. Is it just the account holder SSN? I'm going to be out of state for a while, and especially if I screw up my phone it will be hard for me to get this information after the fact, so any guidance is most appreciated

2. I have insurance on the phone right now. I understand it's likely that it will be rendered useless and the warranty rendered void by doing this upgrade, however, let's say I drop the phone and break the screen. If I try to flash back to a close-to-stock ROM, or intentionally brick the phone, what are the odds they will closely examine the phone upon return? And if they do, does anybody know what the penalty is? I'd like to keep insurance incase something physically happens to the phone, so if anybody has some insight on that, much appreciated.

3. ROM - I've never tried "cooking" my own ROM, but I'm not exactly opposed to that either, however, initially, what's the best ROM? I'm looking for something that's essentially upgraded stock - I don't want a bunch of bells and whistles that I can add in myself later (also I don't want a ROM that modifies the look/feel of Windows Mobile, again, I'll do that myself if I'm inclined to change it) - but I do want a ROM that will work with GPS, especially the "fixed" GPS that doesn't require a soft-reset after going on standby.

4. Finally, what should I expect from an upgraded ROM? With GPS off during normal phone use can I expect to have roughly the same battery life, and are there any issues that will affect the normal operations of the phone? I still want to be able to connect to the data network, text, picture message, etc. and from what I've read it sounds like any issues with those aspects of the device that can get messed up during upgrades can be usually fixed, but is there anything I'm pretty much giving up forever by upgrading?

Again, thanks all for any help, I'm really looking forward to gettin' me some GPS on my phone, I just want to be as clear as possible about what I'm getting into before I do it, so... thanks again!
