Verizon XV6900 upgrading tutorial and troubleshooting!!! GPS enabled!!!

If your getting views, It's working. use visualGPSCE to "Prime" your gps. get it warmed up open up visualGPSCE and accept then click connect and then click serial port

Com:4 is right
Baud rate: 38400
Then click OK... walk outside and wait, shouldnt take long

visualgpsce keeps bouncing from 0 to 1 or 2 or 3

and says fix not available

you did the settings i told you? I just turned mine on after not using it for a couple days and auto 8 views oh and wow 2 in use under a minute? mind you im inside. I love my phone

It even locked in less than a minute.

Don't mind the fix not available. It will when at least one sat is connected

Thanks for the hard work negamann. I had my GPS working fine before running OMJ's Verizon Rom on Radio 3.35. I had a problem with a software conflict that I couldn't figure out, so I was going to just reflash when I found this thread.

I updated my radio to 3.42 and decided to try DHarvey's Rom. When I tried GPS - BAM!!! Amazing - literally instantly locked in less than 2 seconds. Needless to say I was impressed. Used it on a 2 hour drive flawlessly.

Next day, (after standby of course), nothing. Nada. No fix. (Occasionally sees a couple sats, but never a lock after an hour.

Should I try your Rom instead - I kinda like some of the stuff on DHarvey's Rom. Anyone have any "post-standby" luck w/ DHarvery's Rom - did you have to do anything extra?

Thanks again for everyone's help! Having a blast with my VX6900. (Everyone is floored by the Slingbox I hooked up. Can't wait for NFL games on the phone while I'm at games...)

I have a few more questions about your rom.

1. I cant seem to find transcriber, is there something I need to do?

2. it seems that text message and sms are the same, before text messaging was seperate. Is this part of wm6.1 threading feature? or am I missing something to change in the registry?

thanks! GPS works like a champ! Biking is going to be so much easier now finding good routes. would like to find some kind of plug in for live or google maps that has updated bike paths.
