This is radiculous. Its wed and still no update to the website. Both the telus website and the HTC one. I actually just assumed it would be up monday since really, how hard is it to change a link!

Hi all - save yourselves the grief and find an unofficial 6.1 ROM w/ GPS. I made the plunge a couple of days ago. End result: GPS, twice the download speed, no more lockups in sleep mode, and my microSD card corruption has apparently stopped.

A bit early to be 100% sure on that last point, but I've been writing everything to it (attachments, photos, video) and with the stock ROM, it would have corrupted by now.

The phone is finally worth the contract.

If you want it to look and feel the same as the Telus stock rom, with the added bonus of GPS and a faster base, you can download my telus carrier rom here

Do we need to unlock our phones like we would have to if we were flashing one of the roms based on the alltel or sprint roms? Do we also have to update the radio?

Thanks

Yes whenever you do a non-offical carrier update you have to unlock your phone first and then update to the gps/rev. a radio. It's easy and unless you have a hardware failure and need to bring it back to telus for warranty repairs there is no problem. I've found that you can fix any software problems by using the search button.

Do we simply follow Mindfrost82's instructions in the first message in this thread: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=24925 or is there any other special instructions ? ](*,)

What about calls directly going to VM ? Still the same ?

I've tried two ROMs - the one posted by ghettofreeryder above, and this one: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=29103&page=5.

Ghettofreeryder's has an issue whereby if the GPS is engaged, calls go directly to voicemail. So while it's a near match for the Telus stock look & feel, it falls short there. I tested it big-time to prove that out after reverting back to my first choice, the RLMCS ROM. Some of the Vista-esque enhancements are ugly in my opinion, but from a stability perspective I have to say it's 100%. Seriously...no more SD corruption, no more lockups in sleep mode, the GPS can be active and incoming calls still come through. Of course, if I'm streaming video or something then it goes to voicemail often...but that's just a limitation of simultaneous voice and data.

Check It out! I think it is out finally, they have not posted it on the Telus page at HTC yet but this is the address that hosts the Bell ROM and the Telus directory just appeared there tonight.
