I just went outside to play with the dog. Granted I was walking up and down my yard but after 10 minutes NO lock. At one point it had 12 sats with a red outline in GPSViewer but never found a lock. They were all centered on the N.

I left it outside sitting in the middle of the driveway so we'll see in about 15 minutes when I go let the dog in.

But i dont think taking Mogul drivers/radio and putting them into the Touch will change that much.

I would kill for a 1-3 min lock at this point. It is the I am where I was going before I get a lock part that is driving me nuts.

How many times do you use the device w/o a cold start. Hardly ever. Use it once today and again later.

Also, when I select my location in google maps it tells me that my device is not supported for this beta feature (or at least it did in the alltel version). Is this what everyone else is seeing/how are you getting aGPS. Mine puts me in the ocean off the coast of Africa until it gets a solid 3 sat lock.

I don't see why it wouldn't be compatible when those ROM's usually say 3.xx radio compatible on the label.

I agree, that's why the Kaiser is so much more accurate.

I hear lots of complaints about getting a fix but I'm not gonna complain. I'm just glad that GPS is active and that it works, eventually.

Maybe we can start a poll soon to see how different radios are affecting GPS reception.

Yes, I got the same error on previous ROMs and Radios. I think that's because Google Maps was designed for GSM devices?

It used to work very well on my Sprint BB, I just think CDMA WM is an issue for them.

Then how are people getting aGPS to work? Or are they? Who has aGPS working to get a lock and then gets a true gps lock later?

exactly the Kaiser is what it is and we dont have ATT so we cant compare them. Thats how it was set up as out of the box for them. Who knows how its implemented in that device. Just because they are similar chipsets doenst mean you can compare their implementations.

another exactly, people should just be happy it works. If pulling over for a min or 2 is really that difficult if youre really that lost, then i dunno what to tell them... 1-3 min is normal startup time for gps.

and it technically is a cold start. Every time you close the gps program or gps viewer etc. it turns the gps totally off. the data stream is cut. Next time you go to use it its like a cold start every time. So yes 1-3 min is expected unless you constantly leave the data stream (some gps viewer or program) open which would kill your battery.

I wouldn't be complaining if it was really 1 to 2 minutes. I would be jumping for joy.

I just had the phone outside for more than 30 minutes sitting in the driveway. I went out and guess what, no GPS lock. That is not even worth having.

For the aGPS, I believe if you set the GPSMode to 4 in the registry that Google Maps will show a blue dot near you before it actually locks onto any sats...that's the aGPS location.
