I guess I should have clarified that the 5 minutes was just for the very first fix. Now it gets me within seconds (but thats not a cold start, I'll have to test that tomorrow...anyone wanna write 10 pages about license plate recognition?)

Most inconsistent speeds EVER (or the MD test location sucks):

Re: Titan 3.35.04 radio

JD,

I followed your post in the How To Develop sticky thread to port the Titan 3.35.04 and 3.37.20 radios to flash on the Vogue but wasn't sure if it was safe. I guess it was a good thing I resisted the temptation until today or else I would've flashed the radio on the 2.31 unlocker a couple days ago.

I have a few questions if you(all) don't mind;

Was the radio in this thread ported using the same method as you described in the How To Develop sticky thread?

If so then I'm assuming that it is also safe to flash the Titan 3.37.20 (and other 3.xx) radio(s) using the method described in the first post. Or am I wrong?

Cheers!

Re: Titan 3.35.04 radio

I think the reason he chose the 3.35 radio instead of the 3.37 is that the 3.35 supposedly has better gps support.

Re: Titan 3.35.04 radio

Thats the hypothesis being tested if the radio version does make a difference. Personally, i dont think it will make a huge difference. I think the chipset gps has limitations and sensitivity problems that it wont ever work like a bluetooth puck. I still see people with the official mogul gps ROM that have the same waiting for 1-3 min for it to start up as we do. i dont think the drivers or radio will change much here. I think its just something that were going to have to live with. Either the chipset is poor as a gps receiver, or the drivers htc wrote are poor. but i dont think this will ever work like a bluetooth receiver or standalone gps system.

I think so too and it must be a good radio since it came with the official Sprint Titan 3.35 ROM update. I'm having better reception, more bars, in my area.

Re: Titan 3.35.04 radio

Ok, I installed everything except the last Rom update (less than half battery)

I have great rev A speeds from the phone: dsl reports 900kbps down
But when I tether I get crap: 200 kbps down and 25 kbps up
When I am tethered and unplug the phone it says my current connection is no longer available and then proceeds to dial #777 where my speeds go right back to normal.

Also, I have no GPS. Neither google maps or gpsviewer can open the comport 4?

Any help appreciated. I may just go back to Sprint OEM, go to alltel/JD and then try all this again, but that is a pain in the arse.

EDIT: It has been charging for a bit and now has more than 50% battery. I'm finishing out the above steps as we speak.

I somewhat agree and disagree.

At this point the GPS on my Vogue is not as accurate as my Kaiser, my position jumps around 5-50 feet and it rarely gets an exact pinpoint.

On my Kaiser (which supposedly has similar hardware but different software [drivers and whatnot]) I am able to get a lock in several seconds with an exact pinpoint on my location. Also, many Kaiser users like myself report getting a faster lock with various radios. That's why I'm on the lookout for different radios (and drivers).

Anyways, the progress being made lately has been AMAZING! Props to those who have been raising the bar!
