Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
If you have a sprint phone and you are at 2.01 bootloader you need a fat32 formatted SD card that is less than 2gb and you extract the RUU_signed.nbh file from the exe with winrar and copy it to the SD card as VOGUIMG.nbh then use power camera reset to get into bootloader and load it. If that doesn't load the rom than something unusual happened to your device.
PS: I know thats kind of a long sentence, but apparently the first instructions have too many steps ;) |
Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
This was located at xda
This how you can do it without a memory card... Your going to need MTTY Ver. 142 You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371154 The note pad that's inlcuded will tell you how to connect it to your phone... Once your are connected you dont need to follow the rest of the instructions. Type in: boot Then your device will boot back up... The problem i'm having is it will go back to the rainbow screen.. I tried to a do a soft reset before it cud load all the sprint stuff and i tried letting it load all the stuff and both ways it went back to the screen of colored death... For some reason i cant get it to work the way that was sescribed in the firts post here... I don't have the original microsd card but i do have a nokia 1gb card that i used with my mogul... I reformated it to fat32 and tried all the different stuff that was mentioned in this thread so far... Then i saw a post that had a link to xda (i forgot who had the link sorry bro) and read and tried some of the things in there and this was the only thing to get my phone to boot up... but it don't stay booted up... So any help would be appreciated... Update: I was also able to use MTTY ver O.01 ( The version that comes with the E*N Solution for the mogul at Mobilefiles.com... And the touch stayed on but when i went to turn the phone off and turn it back on, it went back to "rainbow hell" So i'm goin to try to use mtty ver 0.01 then do a sprint update while its working... Update. Sprint rom or any rom didn't work while phone was on... So for just able to turn the on. It will stay normal untill you turn it off. Then when your turn it on goes back to the colored screen... |
Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
I was able to get my unlocker to the new 2.3.31 i think, but I am still stuck at the HTC load screen, also I have tried the steps in this thread but still nothing, is MTTY the only option left?

Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
Ok another up date... I was able to get my spc code even though it says it don't have a radio or and esn when you check in settings/system/Device Infomation
If you try to make it call since i don't have the phone activated yet it just says they cant verify my account so the radio still works.. I looked on the back of the phone for esn and used GetSpc from my 1gb card.. Then i did ##diag# and got Qpst to reconize the phone/modem and i changed the spc to 0's. not that that matters... Anyways my question is is there a way i can use qpst to change to rom or anything like that? Or is a place i can find a phone or boot image to load to my touch through qpst? Because even though I got it out of the Rainbow screen , It will go back to it as soon as you turn the phone off or soft reset or take out the battery or what have you... Im so close I can feel it! Thank you... scrotum mtty way is really simple all you do is download it run it and type the word 'boot' the only complicated part would be getting your phone to reconize it... Either way it's always an option.. Good luck... |
Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
for those who failed to unbrick their phones... just a question how did you format your SD card.. did you use another phone? i had a good results when i used a card reader to format my SD card .. i was able to recover using a formated card using a card reader.. before i tried my other touch to format the card and transfer the nbh file...
i hope this helps |
Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
Well - I managed to brick mine (first time I have ever bricked a phone/pda and I have owned pda's since the Palm Pro back in the early 90's - crap). In my attempt run the old unlocker and flash the new Alltel rom so that I could enjoy GPS, I found myself stuck at a with the 2.01 bootloader and there are no official signed roms for my Touch (Telus). I presume that I am screwed, huh?
I am going to take it to the store after work and claim that when I plugged it into the charger this morning, the screen went blank and then the bootloader screen came up. If anyone has any tips, i'd love to hear them. Thanks! |
Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
At this point i still don't have a working vogue, but i'd be willing to look at one if somebody could spare theirs. Maybe even work out a deal to ship it back to ya if it works or something (then I would release a fix for everyone else too), but without one in hand its pretty tough to see more of these intricacies of the bricked ones.
Unfortunately i've found that DHL international ground isn't very fast with shipping electronics from canada (or even updating tracking) to here already though. |
Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
I appreciate the offer - thanks a lot! I decided to "do the right thing" and went to the Telus kiosk and and did my best mia culpe. I told the girl that I bricked my phone flashing an unsupported rom and that I was a dumbass. LOL
She ordered me a new one with no charge. :) The only hitch is that Telus is short on Touches right now and it might take as long as two weeks. In the meantime, I can try to get this going again. Just to give a little more detail, here is what I did: I ran your 2.31 unlocker with the sd card in and disconnected/reconnected when indicated. When I went to run the second half of the automatic procedure, the RUU utility crapped out part way through (lost connection) and when I decided to run the whole procedure from scratch again, the damn nbh file that was still on the card kept reloading every time the bootloader came up and the RUU loader was prevented from loading (as far as I recall). Rather than work through that, I jumped straight to the Alltel ROM and it flashed up to 11% then spontaneously disconnected. The phone rebooted and left me with the bootloader screen (SPL version 2.01) and nothing has worked to revive it. I followed the procedures in this thread - loaded the VOGUIMG.nbh from this thread to a freshly fat32 formatted 1GB card and reset the phone. Predictably, the bootloader came on, the screen turned pale and the Loading... message came up. I left it for a few minutes just to be sure then removed the card, copied the Telus rom from this forum (renamed to VOGUIMG.nbh), then reset the phone. The same bootloader screen loaded SPL 2.01, the screen went pale, and once again Loading... appeared but stuck there interminably (I left it for a good 20 minutes with no progress). It appears that the VOGUIMG.nbh unlocker file is not making it onto the phone. Any ideas? Any tips would be much appreciated! |
Re: Unbricking Vogue / and downgrading SPL
Thanks for the details, here's the problem:
The 2.01 SPL is locked so it will require something different to flash, the unlocker can't be flashed from here. If there is every a signed telus rom your phone will work, but it has to be shipped from telus not dumped like the roms available now. In the meantime there are some things on that 2.01 SPL i'd like to try, but i just can't right now. That SPL looks to have a lot of neat options available via mtty, but they can also make things worse if you aren't careful. |
