OK, I'll reread and see what I missed and try what you said. Unfortunetly installing the cab after doesn't seem to work.

Re: Cook your own Custom Touch ROM

OMJ,

I love your generic clean rom and have been playing with it but want to try to make a clean one of my own. I extrated 2.nbh from the official sprint rom, then:

"prepped it"
"added/removed" stuff
"built OS"
and "builtit", but...

Once I flashed it, it still ran the Sprint customization including ppst etc...

Where is that customization file or directory located so I can get rid of it completely during the "add/remove" phase of cooking?

Like I said, I'm attempting to make my own very clean rom as stripped down as possible just to see if I can

Thanks!

Re: Cook your own Custom Touch ROM

If you are working with the 2.nbh from the official sprint release then you are left with the following directories:

\ROM\
\OEM\
\SYS\

As the phone boots up, it runs what might be considered batch files, in the following order:
\OEM\OperatorPKG\config_operator.txt
---the last line in config_operator.txt calls
\OEM\OperatorPKG_PT\config_pt.txt
---the last line in config_pt.txt calls
\OEM\ExtendedPKG\Config.txt

So now you know what is installed and in which order.

Look through those files and you will find:

CAB: \Windows\PPST_080516_7500_SPCS_2.04.sa.CAB

this line (a cab file) installs the ppst.exe utility

EXEC:\Windows\PPST.exe

this line (an exe file) is the utility being executed

Best regards,

Ooops, sorry typo... boggsie

Hey boggsie,

When you extract 2.nbh, I know that 04_OS.nb is the main WM6.1 plus HTC stuff, but do you know what the 11mb 03_Unknown.nb file is?

I'm not sure what 03_Unknown.nb is ... but I know it isn't a radio. The radio isn't inside of the RUU_signed.nbh, it is always separate. In this case, it is 1.nbh in the RUU/WWE file.

Re: Cook your own Custom Touch ROM

Now that I have read every page of this post, which is obviously what I should have done first, I think I know where I went wrong. I started off just playing around and seeing if I could decompile a ROM without adding OEMS.
I tried JD's Clean ROM, which is what I was currently using on my touch and got an error while decompiling. Don't remember exactly what the error was.
So.....I deleted the kitchen and started fresh. This time trying OMJ's clean ROM and had another Error while decompiling.
This is when a light bulb came on in my head and said "STOCK ROM". I opened the stock Sprint .exe with winrar and extracted BOTH .nbh files. My uneducated %$#, instead of reading on, decided to put both .nbh files into the root of the kitchen and try decompiling. This time I also got an error message. Of course hind sight is twenty twenty and I was only supposed to put the largest .NBH in the root.
Instead of reading on in this thread, I went on to try with the only other ROM that was hanging out on my desktop which was Dharvey's uber clean ROM. This time, it seemed as everything went on without a hitch except, when the phone tried to boot up, it got stuck in one of the boot screens. I have done all of these thing several time without any luck: taken out the battery for 30 seconds, hard reset, soft reset.
When I have had this issue in the past, I could do a hard reset and then flash a different ROM from that point. Problem is, laptop is giving error, not recognizing USB. I plugged my Mogul in with the same chord and it worked fine. Could be that one of the pins in the touch were bent during the process but I was not plugging in and unplugging the phone during the whole ordeal.

EDIT: I did plug in my car charger last night and get the LCD light to light up. After trying it today for S.A.G, it did no light up. I am going to search about how to get around the modified boot screen and getting Sprint to replace it. If I find nothing, I will start a new thread.

Re: Cook your own Custom Touch ROM

In my opinion, whenever you get to a place where your phone isn't working and you don't know what to do, flash the latest stock RUU/WWE for your carrier.

Get the phone to the bootloader / SPL with power+camera+button (stylus in the hole on the bottom)

Run the stock RUU/WWE and follow the prompts!

RUU_Vogue_SPRINT_WWE_3.03.651.4_2_Radio_3.42.30_AM _NV_2.04_Ship.exe

Best regards,
-boggsie

I realize this is a novel but I just wanted to work in the details because I really want my Touch back . Hopefully there is someone out there who can help because I have insurance but if i take it to Sprint with the different boot screens on it, my insurance is null and void Man I did it good this time. just wanted to learn a new way to build

Wow that's really not cool. I would suggest trying the bootloader thing again.

Put the vogue in bootloader, flash a custom that you know works. My suggestion though, use another computer. One with Windows XP where you haven't been messing around like this.
