Re: Cook your own Custom Touch ROM

I know exactly what your saying and I think you looked at my question a little differently than I meant it to come across. Hopefully there are no hard feelings.

Your "Challange to all the rom chefs" thread is what got me looking deeper into making my own roms. I can use one of the kitchens and bust out a rom in 20 minutes like most of the people do, but no one learns anything that way. I am trying to get into it a lot more than that.

I never expect to contribute anything to this forum like some of you have, but maybe one day I will have something to show everyone. Working full time as an engineer and going to school full time doesn't leave me with a lot of free time, but I do take time to hopefully learn something new about this.

Re: Cook your own Custom Touch ROM

Hey, this is a ? for OMJ and JD. I am looking at upgrading the base for my rom, as I noticed OMJ is using CE OS 5.2.19716. How would I go about posting this to my rom, or learning about how to do this. Any help would be great

Your best bet would be to port the SYS from another ROM. If you are looking for 5.2.19716... you might want to check the Kaiser forum at XDA and get a ROM dump.

^ Excellent example of SYS porting!!!

Ok, heres what I did. I took the os.nb and the input rom from OMJs latest, and copied it into my kitchen, then it worked, although i dont think it really did work. Does this make sense?

I have never tried it like that before. Does your build number reflect what you were wanting? Check System Information to find out.

I went to the system>>about and it says what i want. I just want to know if the actual os files where updated, or if it pulled that from somewhere else

AFAIK, the build number is determined by reading a dll on the phone. If it wasn't so early in the morning I would know which one it is. I think it is something like coredll.dll

Re: Cook your own Custom Touch ROM

So do you think it worked, or should i do it the proper way by taking the syts folder.. blah blah blah. I tried it earlier, but it didnt work, but i think it is because I am using the new battery.dll ans didnt run g'reloc

Re: Cook your own Custom Touch ROM

lol Just to be on the safe side... I would port the SYS folder.

You would kill two birds with one stone if you did this, since I think it was recommended to G'reloc after adding the hacked battery.dll or the rilphone.dll
