Slow, Laggy, PITA to use.

Let me get the preliminaries out of the way:
Verizon HTC Touch Pro (Doesn't this one have half the RAM?)
Windows Mobile 6.1
ROM: 1.03.605.4 - 10/01/08
Radio: 1.03.03V

Even after a fresh reboot, the phone is still so incredibly slow and laggy in its response from everything from dialing, loading SMS messages, even unlocking the damn thing takes forever and I only have a four digit password.

I press a number on the screen and I have to WAIT... Did it register that I pressed that button? Sometimes there's a 5 sec lag time between the time I touched the screen and the time that star shows up on screen when unlocking.

Dialing is the same way... Sometimes I can even dial a full 10digit number and hit send before the first digit even is heard through the speaker.

Even with all Apps closed and after a fresh reboot, RAM usage as indicated by the task bar at the top shows over 60%... Is that free or used RAM?

Re: Slow, Laggy, PITA to use.

i dont have vzw so i dunno if your specs mean ur stock or not.. but why the hell are you still on 6.1... 6.5 has been daily funstional and available like what, 6 months easy here... get with the times, theres a few custom roms designed with vzw in mind... check bikeanddestroys stuff out.. i think i remember hes vzw, so anything he had to create had to be functional on a gimp tp also.... least i think im kinda right here lol...

the answers around, theres a near bare rom or two out there as well that may gibve u available space u didnt have b4

Re: Slow, Laggy, PITA to use.

I have not found a 6.5 rom to run worth a flip on a VZW touch pro. Even a barebones 6.5 rom will only let you fire up a couple apps before hitting you with out of memory errors.

Try SSK's 6.1 roms. Blazing fast, stable, and includes darn near anything you'd need.

TF3D eats a ton of memory and slows everything down.

Not even running Touch Flow.. It made it even more slow; That's the first thing I disabled.

This phone is how it sits when I got it this past April.
I thought that since HTC made the hardware for the T Mobile G1, That I could flash the Android OS on this.

Same chip, same RAM, same display, camera, keyboard...
Just an HTC Dream with a CDMA Radio and Verizon subscription.
I did some homework before buying the phone. Looks like it wasn't enough. I don't know C++ or Assembly Language.
Looks like Verizon screwed me on this one.

I just figured someone else with more programming experience than I have would've had the same idea.

Are you still on the stock ROM? If so that is your problem, all the stock ROMs suck, find you a custom VZW ROM.

Re: Slow, Laggy, PITA to use.

Welp, I just got them to issue a new one under warranty...
Popped my battery in. Fresh out of the FedEx box mind you...

40% memory used?! WTF?!

Verizon is researching a solution. (Send me a different phone.)
HTC says this is normal.

HTC rep also said that this Verizon unit runs DDR RAM while the Sprint and others use SD-RAM. He also said he thought that the Verizon had more RAM but after checking the specs, they have the same. WTF?

Had I known that the call to HTC was gonna be useless, I would not have wasted my time.

HTC's troubleshooting techniques:
1.) Look at RAM usage after a fresh reboot - 47% = Normal (WTF?)
2.) Load up Opera browser, navigate to www.purple.com - Loads a basic HTML webpage. What does this prove?
3.) Run Teeter game... Play game for a little. Again, what does this prove?

The tech even commented that that ball rolling smoothly shows how well my machine is running.

Yeah. I have a 386 in the basement that plays Solitaire on Windows 3.11 too... Want a cookie?
