Re: Slow, Laggy, PITA to use.

Free RAM isn't necessarily something to fixate on. These phones can just be laggy sometimes.

Here's what I get on a just-hard-reset stock Sprint ROM:

203.20 MB total ram
69.84 MB In use
113.36 MB Free
35% utilization

You could try a cooked ROM, some of them run more smoothly than the stock.

You don't have to worry about free memory.
You've got double the RAM that I've got.

Stop complaining, i had that phone since release. Its 192mb ram vs 256mb, not double. Never had my phone slow down cause it was at 47%, its the actual rom that causes it. Throw a custom rom on, stop worrying about ram and worry about performance. I had mine idle at around 55-60% used and it was fast. Get in the kitchen and make something for yourself, or use DCD's rom or another barebones titanium rom.

Agreed, I also came from a VZW TP. my rom/kitchen works well on VZW TP's with a 12mb Page Pool. get my kitchen and make a titanium only rom use 28011. its faaast

I am proud to say its the fastest rom available ...no, I will not stop bragging about that

This is def an excelent and well put together rom. i love it so far. and i've used it about a minute. pele, i would recomend this. i'm currently using 69%, with TF3D. and it's smooth. LOADED with apps and a clean RAM app. to help keep the usage low even after you close the program.
Does not come with BING Maps, or SKY Fire, just IE,
Also comes with a nifty utility called S2U2, for locking your phone after the screen goes dark. So if you get a text you don't bum call the person. "or anyone else". S2U2 is just an amazing app. Would recomend this app.!!!! So. look into it.

Re: Slow, Laggy, PITA to use.

I'm not a programmer. What's this about getting into the kitchen and cooking up my own ROM? I know a little C++, but my first three attempts at making Tic-Tac-Toe in some programming class resulted in locking up the computer.

I definitely don't trust myself to build a custom ROM.

lol, no programming knowledge is required. when it comes to time MODIFY my kitchen's main script, that will come in handy, but it's just batch.

all you need to do with my kitchen is answer a few questions

Code:
Please Enter the name of your ROM: pele
Please enter your desired SYS/XIP version: 28014
Please Enter titanium/manila/both/none (lowercase): titanium
Would you like to baseline the SYS? (y/n): y
Would you like to baseline the XIP? (y/n): n
Please enter desired pagepool size (0-64): 12
RZ relocate modules (EXPERIMENTAL) (y/n): n
thats all, it will go off and do its thing and within a few mins you will have the rom update utility on your screen, ready to flash.

you need to disable user account control and be an administrator on your PC because my kitchen does some low level things like changing system/hidden/OS attributes on the ROM files.

I downloaded the latest kitchen (2009-12-21) from your site listed in your sig... It popped up a second DOS window and said ERROR! (Runlevel: 1)

What went wrong?

If I try and create one that's both titanium and manilla it fails even earlier with a "Can not find WINCE.somethinsomething. This ROM will not boot."

make sure you have user account control DISABLED, and also you need to be an administrator on your PC. and another thing is that the path to the kitchen cannot exceed 240 characters, an easy way around this is move the kitchen directory to C:\

note though that in the past few kitchens (not sure how many) VZW functionality is broken.. I am working on that
