No I haven't, my Verizon TP2 is totally 100% out of the box factory set. The internet sharing worked great out of the box on my original TP1.

I have nothing against Flashing the ROM, although I have never done it, I just wish the basic built-in programs straight from the manufacturer would work

I think I'll use today to flash my ROM, what's the best/current flash tool out there right now, and is Flashing different than installing something like MightyROM for my TP2? (is it like flashing the BIOS on my laptop?)

Re: VZW replacing TP1 with TP2!

I got my 2nd TP (warranty replacement) in the mail today. The rep first said there were no more TP's in stock but when I was transferred to tech support he found some in stock. They never said what they would offer in lieu of a TP, but I was kind of hoping for the Droid (not to change the subject) but would take a TP2. I'll see how long this one holds out and if it goes bad again perhaps then they will be out of stock and I'll get lucky.

I'm kind of feeling the same way, I'm on my 3rd replacement in 4 weeks (touch screen failures), they claim they'll replace it with something else if this one fails. The only two comparable phones I see are the TP2 and the Droid. The Eris doesn't have a keyboard and the display resolution is half that of the TP.

Just be persistent! The TP2 is awesome, but to be honest... only with the MightyROM.

Re: VZW replacing TP1 with TP2!

Verizon sent me TP2. I have had my tp since october and to be honest i was happy with it. Know im waiting for the tp2 and it's coming tomorrow. I had problems with my tp's. I use the phones to write essays while in class, so the phones would say out of memory and then would get hot and i could not turn it back on untill it cooled down, weird.

Re: VZW replacing TP1 with TP2!

I had issues with my TP so i took it to the store and initially sent me the wrong phne (Diamond) so i went back and said that it was not a compatible model, so they put the order in and told me that they still had TPs available and 2 days ago i got another TP....man, i wish i would have received a TP2 instead.....i wish there was a way for me to confirm that there was really no more TPs available.......and do you guys know if i would have to go to the store again if i get to have issues again, or can i just simply call tech support to see if they can send me a new one hopefully TP2...

pls advise

Re: VZW replacing TP1 with TP2!

I have been having some screen and battery issues with my Verizon TP, as well. I was not forced over to Verizon from Alltel, I don't think we have Alltel on the west coast...? The screen will randomly shut off even when the battery is full, and one time the battery died in the night with no programs running and was at full charge when I went to bed, I had to recharge it before it would turn back on. Also sometimes it won't recognize the charger or start charging when plugged in.

Question Please....

If I do decide to have Verizon replace my TP for warranty, should I flash back to the stock rom first? I'm worried that they will not cover it if I've been flashing. :P

Please advise....

Edit: Also gets hot and says there is not enough memory....

Hi,

MY TP1 that got upgraded to a TP2 was from Alltel. I was an Alltel customer for about 6 years, and then I was forced by merger into Verizon service around October 23rd this year when the big switch happened.

I think Asurion is Alltel's insurance, but I could be wrong; I thought Verizon used a different insurance provider or insured themselves. Anyway, one thing I am sure of is that my phone did not affect my insurance coverage in any way (more than 1 replacement per 12mo and they cancel your coverage!) because my TP1 was still under a 1yr manufacturer's warranty. Personal Communications Devices (who SUCK) is who Verizon deals with and directs traffic to etc, I believe most of the phones come from them.
