Alltel Touch Pro and Verizon
I have read many threads am I am looking for an update. Is it possible to now add the Alltel pro to a verizon account with an esn swap online or by *228 option 3. I would think most of the merger is complete so it should be possible. If it is possible does the system detect the phone as a TP and require a data package. I have a 6800 and am eligible for a free upgrade because of my many replacements but everything newer requires data. So I was thinking a Alltel TP if it can be activated might be able to get by the data block.

Re: Alltel Touch Pro and Verizon
The week they switched I went into an alltel store and got a replacement sent because of a intermittent keyboard problem. They sent the replacement and I got it monday. Alltel had become verizon the friday before. I went to the verizon page because I could no longer access my account at alltel. I entered the esn, did a *228 and it worked fine.

Re: Alltel Touch Pro and Verizon
Really that is good news. Now a few questions. What picture shows up for your phone on the verizon site. Is it a Alltel TP, Verizon model, or somethine else. Do you have a data package?

Re: Alltel Touch Pro and Verizon
This is what it shows for my phone on verizon's site.
Yes I have an alltel smartphone plan with unlimited data. If it does work for you without a smartphone plan you will want to make sure that all data is off from the phone or you will end up being billed. If this helps... I had a motorola Q on a non-data plan with no problems. I was never charged any extra data charges. They activated it over the phone, I just neglected to mention what kind of phone it was. |

Re: Alltel Touch Pro and Verizon
Thanks for the info. It helps me a lot. It looks as though i might be able to add one without which is great. My line already has a block so I dont have to worry about charges.

Re: Alltel Touch Pro and Verizon
Last I heard, you cannot add an Alltel phone to a Verizon account. You used to be able to have the ESN added to the Verizon database, but since the merger, all Alltel ESN's have already been added, and added in such a way that they cannot be activated on Verizon accounts. There were a few threads about this awhile back. You can however have a Verizon device on an Alltel account, but not the other way around, as stupid as that sounds.
