Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?
For those that the BIN file did not fix the issue:
Here is another thought to see if DST is the problem... Update QuickGPS Disable time updates from the cell towers (Start, Settings, Personal, Phone, Services, Time Synchronization) Change the time back an hour Soft Boot Timezone is correct and Time is 1 hour earlier than it really is Test GPS What are the results? Please report back... |

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?
im in san antonio and i'm having the same issue. it started off slowly about two weeks ago also other issues i wne through with sprint. within 4 days i talked to atleast 20 reps. getting transfered around. the right reps left notes in my account telling stores to replace my phone i went to 3 stores they all BSd me. they wouldnt fix my issue.
yesterday i had to reset my phone 5 times because it froze and today i had to reset 10 times. plus my gps kept saying weak all day. it will tell me im on a street that im not. and it will move even when im standing still. and my last 3 attempts to use the gps and kept soft resetting itself when ever it tried to get my location. so frustrating and im so mad. they should have just replaced my dam phone 2 week ago. |

Not that it's related but I'm in San Antonio too and was having the same issue. I tried the .bin file fix and it seems to have fixed it. Have you tried that? Seems like your issue might be different since yours actually connects to the GPS, mine was soft resetting when it tried to connect. |
Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?
Hello All,
Location: The Dalles, Oregon Carrier: US Cellular ROM: Stock across the board I too was having the same problem with GPS apps (soft reboots, phone lock ups, no satellite lock, etc). I replace the "xtra.bin" file as Psi Phi suggested and turned off all updating by QuickGps, and everything seems to be working again! Thank you Psi Phi for the file and the suggestion. Slats |
Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?
FINALLY I fixed it on my Diamond !!!
The stupid xtra.bin file is in TWO places. You must replace BOTH. \Windows\xtra.bin \Temp\xtra.bin Replace it in BOTH directories and soft reset. You can get the xtra.bin file in this post http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...0&postcount=59 P.S. One other thing I did is I made sure the file had a current date on it. Since some stuff is date sensitive. But I'm not sure that mattered. |
Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?
Can someone point me a link of that xtra.bin file please. I've searched over the thread but didn't find the link in the posts.... :S thanks
