Weird, I was having this same issue and disabling quickGPS and deleting those XTRA.BIN files and replacing with th one in the thread worked for me. What's th deal. Does this mean we have to never use QuickGPS again??? When does the data in that other XTRA.BIN file expire??

Did you replace it in Both Directories?

P.S. One other thing I did is I made sure the file had a current date on it. Since some stuff is date sensitive. But I'm not sure that mattered.

Yes I replaced both directories, same result. No I didn't mess with the date. This is completely nuts in regards to no matter what ROM I flash to the GPS will still only work with the 1.12.34f radio or it soft-resets.

Well why not try setting the date on the files. It may see it as expired or older than last update an not use it.

I had suspected that maybe that's why it worked for some folks and not others because depending on how you copied it you may or may not get a new date.

You are right that getting a GPS fix is all about having the correct time between the device and the satellites..

I did have the time +1 hr problems with some rom's I have tried but not with the ones that I had the GPS problems with. Strange that mine at least sometimes got an accurate fix before it crashed.

Hope this goes away on Sunday.....

I tried today. Doen't work. I am still using the downloaded extra.bin file to have the gps alive for now.

How many BELL's Diamond here?

I used ultraedit to save it as to current date. It is working. But I didn't try what happens if I don't change the date.

Ah, you did change the date. That's good to know.

I'm starting to hate HTC's phones :( I'm wondering if I should try the new Telus HSPA+ networks with the iPhone or something. Seems much more stable than Windows mobile phone ... :/ or maybe stay with HTC but taking a Hero with Google Android. I will try something like "My GPS is not even working... gimme another phone" hehe

Nah damn it won't works. Telus can see that I don't use their own navigator so they'll know that I've modified my phone :(

Thank you for the ultraedit tip, it worked like a charm... Finally after a week I have GPS... it seems the DST had nothing to do with it... (or maybe it triggered it .... don'tknow) but thx... hopefully HTC/Bell/Sprint will take a look into a fix... because this is not a good thing... makes me actually want to leave HTC after years of recommendations/usage... Sad

my first try was without changing the date and after reboot the phone would turn off and then vibration would be constantly on at low vibration... very very very very weird....it's like my phone had a mind of it's own.....

I was also hoping that the DST change would fix it but it hasn't. Thankfully the xtra.bin file was posted and that has allowed me to continue to use the GPS function
