EVDO on US Cellular Touch Pro

I have a US Cellular Touch Pro. Where I used to live US Cellular had no EVDO service, just 1X. Now I live in a roaming area, where my phone uses Verizon's network. Verizon has EVDO here, but my phone won't automatically use it.

I can force it by setting "Mode of Operation" (in phone settings; some ROMs require a registry hack to access this setting) to "EVDO only," and then it uses Verizon's EVDO just fine. But when it's on this setting it can't automatically switch back to 1X for incoming calls or texts, which makes this setting pretty useless.

So does anyone know of a way to make the phone automatically use Verizon's EVDO?

Try updating the towers that your phone uses by dialing *228 and hitting send.

I'm not very familiar with *228. Isn't that just for Verizon phones? I'm not a Verizon customer, I'm still on USCC but I live in a roaming area, and USCC phones use Verizon's network while roaming. So can anybody do the *228 thing?

Never mind, I figured out the *228 thing. I'll have to wait till I'm back in the roaming area to see if the update helped; I'm in a US Cellular area right now.

Re: EVDO on US Cellular Touch Pro

I did the *228 update, but it still won't automatically switch to EVDO while on Verizon's network. Any other ideas? Thanks!
