Hello, there use to be a way to do the exchange online but since then Sprint stopped that service, perhaps try e-chat (they are pretty useless) or call this number here that i seen people suggest on calling 888-211-4727. hit thanks if you want =] |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Called yesterday morning due to missing calls and random lock ups. The list of phones they offered was pretty impressive! They offered:
Touch Pro Touch Pro 2 Treo Pro HTC Snap Curve (8330) Palm Pre Which did I choose? I decided I didn't want another WinMo phone so there goes 4 of the ones offered. I already have a Curve so that only leaves me with one option. Anyone know how long it takes to arrive?? Do they send the replacements overnight? Palm Pre on it's way! |

Its weird how others get phones offered through the phone but yet at my one and only local store I haven't gotten them to offer anything. My only luck was at a store 5 hrs away but I couldn't get them to send it to my store or my residence. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
if you drive to a sprint store 5 hrs away and back twice that would about 36 dollars in gas. thats crazy.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
GOT Touch Pro 2 finally. I had the Mogul and did a claim. The next mogul, fortunately arrived with a broken button so I called and they sent Touch Pro. That one started messing up and they sent another. The second TP1 started having keyboard issues so I called again. Every time I tried to get the TP2, they said it was an upgrade. So the 3rd TP1 came yesterday. It was all jacked ( back cover warped, gap between screen and keys, gap around number keys and num keys loose) and running slow so I called again. The rep said my replacement was a Blackberry and I told him NO I don't want a Blackberry and need the slide out keyboard. He went to manager and got it approved. Low and behold he couldn't do it cause it was over 3 replacements and a manager approval is needed. So manager gets on phone and says my replacement is a TP1. I told him the guy I just spoke with got it approved by a manager. Manager said...that was me he spoke to so I asked why he approved it 12 seconds ago and now is not? He started saying that was all they could do and I said this is crazy and my 3rd TP1 in less than a month. He asked me to hold and WOW...TP2 on it's way. I also asked him if they could send the books, discs and accessories so I could learn the phone. He said he couldn't promise it as the insurance covers the phone but they do buy new phones and I could get a brand new one. Just got my comfirmation and it says
HTC Touch Pro II new fully kitted CK Friggen finally. I guess persistance pays off sometimes. I almost accepted this last TP1 cause it is a headache setting everything up but after coming here to get some tweaks and seeing everyone in the last day or 2 getting TP2, I decided I did not want to accept a phone that was all messed up and it worked. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Well, for anyone that's been following my story in this thread, I'd like to report that I finally had success.
On my last post i said I was going to call in the middle of the day - so I did.. that rep said the best thing would be for me to take it to the store and she generated an e-Ticket. I took it to the store that evening. The "Sales Consultant" that I talked to was very helpful and sympathetic. Unfortunately the tech that actually looked at my phone wasn't as much and even copped an attitude when I asked if he could just check and see if their system would offer any phones besides the TP. He (rather sarcastically) said "it'll just be the same phone", I declined the replacement and went back to the sales guy. He told me he was sorry for the way the tech treated me and even gave me the store managers business card, and recommended I call customer service and see what they could do. So, when I got home I went ahead and called *2. Well, the first girl I talked to was a bit of a twit, basically saying (without even bothering to check) that they would send me another TP and when I asked her to check she transferred me to Account Services (retentions) even tho I never threatened to cancel. I ended up talking to two different people in Retentions, a first level agent, then a "Senior RA" and all they could do was offer to sell me a TP2. When I said that I didn't want to pay for a new phone when my current phone wasn't working right, they basically said there wasn't anything they could do. When I inquired again about an Advance Exchange, they put me back with Tech Support. This girl was ACTUALLY helpful. She was very empathetic and understood exactly what I was wanting. She started the AE process and read off the list of available phones - which at the time was all the phones that cv7713 mentioned, minus the TP2. I asked her to note my account that I would be calling back to check the list again another day. She agreed and the call ended at that point. Well, the next day, I get a call... it was the first girl I had talked to the day before that had set up my eTicket for taking my phone to the store. I forgot she had said she would call me back to see if my issue was resolved. She found the notes on the account, started the process again, and lo and behold the TP2 was back on the list. I asked for the TP2, she gladly set it up and, according to my wife, it just arrived at my doorstep. The TP1 has been a fun ride, I thoroughly enjoyed my first one, but just got tired of all the "little things". I'll be quite happy to see you all over in the TP2 forums :D |

There really isnt a right or wrong way to get a tp2 -unless your scamming! lol if they offer the tp take it lol it seems that your only on your 2nd tp and to my knowledge you dont qualify for a advance exchange.. so they wouldnt be able to offer you a tp2 or any other device for that matter.. so your most likely going to have to take another tp.. or try your luck with another store.. or upgrade to another device |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
It's true! My phone was getting goofy but overall working OK. I waited a few extra weeks hoping they might run out of TPs and Bingo! Took my phone in Tues. had a new TP2 today. Absolutely love it and Sprint. Their customer service waived the $100 deductible because the person who talked me into the $7 / mo insurance never told me there was a deductible. No waiting to talk to a live person and they truly do want to keep their customers happy.
Should this be in another post though? |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
What are my options? my TP overheats ALOT and it gets really hot!!
1. I have a crack in the shell (silver part of my TP) and no store will touch it, instead they say give them 100 bucks and they'll give me a refurb. 2. I have NO insurance on the phone and I'm on SERO 1250. 3. Since I'm giving them 100 bucks, will they activate insurance on my phone or will it just be a refurb without insurance? 4. I'm about 1 year removed from my contract, I want to stay with sprint but only if I get the right phone. What should I do? Just fork over the 100 bucks and hope to get a TP2? Or just buy a pre and renew my contract? |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
On an update to my TP to TP2 replacement, my shipment came in and it was a NIB TP2. UPS stated it was 1.8lb, but it included everything including an extra battery they packed along.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
is there a chance of getting the phone replaced for the oil slick on the screen and overheating?? there are also some stress cracks on the silver part from the slider mechanism, not from dropping the phone or anything like that. i've also had the keyboard replaced on it once.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Finally after three weeks of calling and multiple visits to the repair center my tp2 was finally ordered. Be persistant and nice to all you speak to. Thanks to you all who gave advice

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
The TP2 was finally in stock when I called Tech Support, it shipped today but it says the weight is .80lb. Should I be worried?

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
has anyone been able to get a replacement without insurance or warranty?

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
What are the reasons you guys are getting these replaced for? I currently have a TP that I've only had to replace once in the last year and 2 months. I do have the oil slick on the screen, never bothered me so I didn't care. It will get hot when charging. Other than that it has been pretty solid. My problem as to why I am looking into this is that a piece of plastic broke off right above the volume button. I do have insurance but they are only replacing with the TP's and I would rather save the $100 and get a TP2. I know it might take a while but I just want to know whats been the catylist to get the upgrade for most of you. Thanks ahead of time.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
If you have insurance, then you won't have to pay the $100. Overheating is a reason they'll replace the TP1 for a TP2
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
My phone was stolen. It said on the claim that it would be a TP but I know some people have got TP2 instead. It shows 1 lbs. on the shipment. I thought I saw 0.8 lbs is a TP and anything else is a TP2 is this true?
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
If you are having any problem at all with your TP1 and you have insurance, you can have it replaced with a TP2. You should take it to the store to have it done though as myself, my brother, and a friend all had ours switched out last Thursday. The woman made it a point to tell me the TP2 was finally on the list of choices.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
so its been proven that this is legit but is there any hope for someone like me that bought their touch pro cash no contract. ive had to send it in 5 times now and the support and techs keep getting worse and worse...they actually tried to deny me free repair because the tech indicated my phone had physical damage (maybe he realized they are pieces of shit...) anyway i argued it over and they dropped the status and fixed it for free. i was happy untill i got it back and the idiot had put my old esn sticker on the phone even though he replaced the motherboard and didnt put the slide assembly back together right. i immediately called and requested a touch pro 2 as the amount of time and money ive spent sending this phone in is unacceptable. they told me there was nothing they could do(this was a supervisor) as they didn't have access to the product at all. i argued that sprint is giving customers a tp replacement because its a flaw with the model and they denied there was anything wrong with the touch pro. when they said that i asked for a detailed report from the tech why my phone seems to break so often and what physical damage they found as it concerns me that my phone was considered damaged and they sent the same one back ( i could tell by the casing). i decided to stop playing stupid and asked if they consider the wearing of a flex cable physical damage and she said it was ( i find this upsetting as she failed to see that since sliding is one of the phones functions that if the phone wasnt flawed i should be able to open my phone to type a message without voiding my warranty ) sorry about the rant but im very frustrated. since i bought my thouch pro ive had it for a total of 10 days.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Finally got my TP2 replacement! Called the store on Sunday to see if they had any updates to the WEL list for the TP. I opened up the conversation with "I own a Touch Pro and..." when the guy cut me off and said "I'm sorry for that!" It was a pretty good laugh and I knew then that he'd be a cool guy to talk to about getting a TP2 replacement. He confirmed that they were FINALLY offering TP2's as replacements now (even when other people claiming their store was offering it awhile ago, my store wouldn't budge). By that time Sunday it was too late to go. So I called Monday after work before heading out there and talked to a different guy, but he basically said the same thing. I had to come in, explain my problems, and if everything checked out, I'd be going home with my TP, but a TP2 would be ordered for me! He explained that after they gave me a TP2, if I had any problems with it, I'd be stuck with getting a TP2 and they wouldn't be offering me any other phone like a Pre or BB. I explained that I'm due for an upgrade in August and that I'm sure my TP2 will be able to hold out until then (or longer). So I go in and drop off my TP. After I get back to pick up my TP to learn my fate, a different employee offers me the Pre, BB, and some other phone I don't remember becuase I was focusing on the fact that she skipped over the TP2! I said "well I called ***** today and he said you guys would order me a TP2." It just so happened to be that ***** was a manager. After walking back to the service technician, she came back to me and said that they'd order me a TP2. YES!!
Moral of the story - if you talk to someone on the phone and they tell you that you can get a TP2, remember to get their name. It could come in handy like it did with me. Good luck!! |

Htc repair, every htc device has a one year warranty from the manufacturer...unfortunately they are very bright but reoccuring problems are covered for ninety days so as long as it happens again with in 90 days i can get it fixed free of charge and the 90 days is nothing to worry about because these things break in a week or sometimes come back broken still. the frustrating part is they change to motherboard every time they "repair" it so ive had to register the esn to metro (which is 40 bucks) 5 time now |
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)
After 6 TPs, A Sprint Tech Supervisor (after a polite, professional, but firm understanding that I provide them about $3000/yr for service on 3 devices and I expect a device that works properly), he used my $150 upgrade credit, credited the remaining price, and shipped me a NIB TP2. While I was having problems getting back in contact with him to arrange this, I spoke to a different Tech Supervisor who ordered me a re-furb TP prior to the TP order. They told me to send back the defective unit and keep the re-furb as a backup in case something would happen to my TP2. So...packages arrive yesterday (new "upgrade" TP2 to my office, refurb to my 2nd home address). I get to my old house last night to check my mail, open the box, and it's ANOTHER NIB TP2 and an extra battery! SWEET! I'm giving my wife the 2nd TP2 to replace her Samsung M510. :) See you guys on the other side. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
OK guys heres my situation
Im on a SERO account and have an old phone im thinking of gettting a touch pro for ebay or craigslist whatever for as cheap as possible hopefully a phone with a broken keyboard. Now i dont have TEP right now but i heard that if u do an ESN swap u can get TEP added for $7 so will do a ESN swap add TEP and use it for a lil while and wait for it to break ( or flash it with the new rom from HTC and complain that its laggy and buggy) and try for a TP2 Is this a viable idea?? |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Dropped my phone in the toilet, last night. Went to the repair center today. Immedietly recognized the technician as someone I went to highschool with and he was pretty down to earth, chatted it up with him. It got real busy so I was patient and polite. Finally he gets to me and wants to talk me into BB but I said I really wanted to upgrade to TP2 if I was gonna even think about a new phone and not a replacement.
The whole time he was unscrewing the phone checking it and shit, I don't know if he was just ignoring any water damage indicators or if he was distracted. But I do remember him saying "Im not gonna promise anything" when I told him about trying to TEP for a TP2 because the phone would not turn on and the flashlight was randomly flashing when I inserted the battery. Minutes later he was like, "its your lucky day, you get tp2 for free" I was like dude, thanks man, he was like well don't really thank me, thank the system man. I'm very lucky and happy yay me. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Well after five calls and repeatedly being told the touch pros have no issue by customer service and my store I finally got through to sprint and a person who knew about them. It's a done deal. Gave me a choice of the TP2, New Curve, Snap, Pre. I took the Pre. Whenever their is a touch pro type windows phone that is actually a big upgrade and isn't always waiting on a new OS I'll jump on it. Very ready to have a keyboard that works again.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Lets say I have one of the first or second gen Sprint touch pros that had the edge cracking problem. I have no insurance on the phone, but it been giving me hell from day one with issues that can't all be named in one sitting. What should i do to get it replaced with something less crappy?

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
The lady in the retail store said call cancellations and say your are getting Verizon because they will not replace the known issue junk that the Touch Pro is as of yet any other way for me. It worked. They "found the bulletin" and gave me my choice including the tp2. No thanks though I went with something else. I have no insurance, just had a relative do the same and bingo got it tonight, no insurance.
