Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Hey all! I was wondering what your opinions are on my situation. So my Tp has just started acting up. I've had it less than a year (got it on 1/27/09) and The screen periodically shuts off on it's own during texting and while getting texts. You can barely see the screen when it "shuts off" and when you hit the power button to turn on/off again it won't do anything. This last in and out for about a good 3-5 minutes. I can soft reset the phone and it will go away for a good part of the day but it seems to be happening on a consistent basis. I tried a hard reset and no luck. I have flashed back to the stock rom from a custom and it is still doing it. If not more often now. I was thinking about taking it in to the Sprint store to have them diagnose and possibly fix it or should I just do an insurance claim on it through asurion?? I am on the TEP insurance plan. Thanks in advance for the input!

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
take it to sprint and save a $100 that you would pay asurion

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
So I just wanna double check. I flashed back to the stock rom from the htc support page and verified that it all matches up including the radio. Now I used the Raphael_CDMA_Relocker and when I got into the boot screen it has:
Security Unlocked (at the top) RAPH800 SPL-0.37.000 MicroP-Hermann (LED) v0C85 MircoP-Hermann (KEY) v0685 PSOC-Raph STAGE_EVT v20 So am I good to go into the sprint store? |

Thanks man! I appreciate it!
Well... I'm gonna found out tomorrow how cool the tech at the sprint store is.... wish me luck! lol |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
i did the same thing and mine says unlocked even though i used the locker and sprint said nothing to me other than my replacement will be there in a few days.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Mine also has a chip missing above the volume rocker, which he saw as only more reason to send it back. I'd say go to a store and deal with a person (as politely as possible) instead of calling up some bean counter in a cubicle.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
figured i would grab a six pack of some bud lights tonight and call tech support to try to get my tp2, and after 15 minutes i would say it has been a successful evening! now i can have my brew, and celebrate instead of having to mess around with my tp1.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I've been reading all of the stories about how to get a 2 from the 1 for a while now and finally my Touch Pro1 bit the big one. No communication with the servers even after the flash back to stock and relock. Spent an hour on the phone with CS, we will see what happens in the morning when I go to the service center.
Wish me luck. :silent: |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I've had my TP for almost a year now and just recently built up the courage to flash MightyRom onto my phone. But, just recently my TP has been acting up much like how a lot of the people here have been describing it (glitchy keyboard, freezes when trying to answer calls, overheat, chrome edges etc). I was thinking about going to the repair center to have them look at my phone. Would it be an issue if I go to them with a flashed phone and that it has almost been over a year since I got my phone?

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I've been following this thread since the beginning. I'm on my 4th TP1. What finally got the ball rolling in the right direction was a 40 min battle on the phone (some assertiveness, not rudeness) with Tech Support after calling *2. They were very reluctant initially but agreed on the TP2. But, even then, all they did was note my account to order me a TP2 if my phone couldn't be fixed IN STORE. Took it into the store and they said they can't fix it but ALSO can't order a TP2!
So called tech support when I got home. Explained to them what happened and she said, that it is not true that corporate stores can not order TP2's. So she puts me on hold and calls my store. Comes back a few minutes later and says she had the manager put an order in for me. I asked for a confirmation number and she was unable to give me one since it was the store manager that processed the order. So I called the store and the guy on the phone said they were unable to access the order info. But said he's guessing I should get it on Wed.... We'll see what happens but it sounds like I got FINALLY got one. I'll believe it when its in my hands |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Tried echat to track my order. They could not find it.
Called Tech Support and got my tracking number for a my Touch Pro 2 that they are sending. Looks like a refribed unit. No issues with that as long as it works. Funny thing while on hold with Tech Support to get my tracking number, I got an email from Sprint with the information. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
No love for me. After spending 2 hours in the store waiting on them to "fix" my phone (no internet, problem with the hardware, they say, worked just fine until yesterday), they came back and said that they had ordered me a refurb Pro1 that would be here middle of next week. :disgust: Called customer service to let them know that I need to have a phone for work and the only thing they would offer is for me to hope that someone doesn't pick theirs up from a service center that's on the other side of DFW and then I could go there and get, you guessed it, another Pro1. ](*,)

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
It MAY help to go into a sales-only store (non-repair center) and play dumb. It's been said that if it can't be repaired in-store, they'll get you a new something else. If the store hasn't got the capability of even trying to repair the phone, they may be more apt to order you a new replacement of your choice from their list.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
TP2 is still a replacement option via phone advanced replacement. I called in Monday about the wife's hardware keyboard messing up. The tech ordered another TP which is fine, she likes hers. Thursday it's not here and I call back in and the tech says the order was messed up and never processed.
He asked if I was told I could get a different refurb model phone since the TP has so many problems. I told him no and as he was getting ready to tell me the models available he said, "oh, it's back". My ears perked up and he went through the list and said the TP2 is back on the list after being off for a few weeks. I told him sure, I'll take a TP2 and before he got the call I had my email confirmation. I mention mine sometimes locks up charging and he said it might be software. I downloaded the HTC Sprint update ROM and installed that. My phone was locked up this morning so I called *2 (same number I called the other calls) and explained it was still locking up. I get transferred back to advanced tech, explain the locking and the tech says no problem and gives me the confirmation # for a replacement TP. I asked if other models are still offered and after a couple minutes on hold she comes back and says they are. She goes down the list and the TP2 is still listed so I have another refurb TP2 on its way. Got the confirmation email within minutes showing the TP2. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
They just sent my wife a New TP2 after her keyboard failed on her TP1
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Just called back in and got sent directly to advanced tech 2. Got a dude who was super cool, and offered me a TP2 straight away. Its on the way and he also gave me 25% of all sprint accessories at my local store for having trouble and being cool with him.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Called tech support, they sent me a ticket and told me to take it to a local store. Had a bad experience with one of them and going to go to the other one on Monday. The guy from tech support told me to print off the ticket and specifically told me to ask about the WELL list when I go there. From everything I have read here people say that is a bad idea. Think I will go there and just play dumb. What you guys think?

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
OK, i need some help getting the TP2, my TP sucks....I have physical damage around the chrome so i can't get the phone looked at in a Sprint Repair Store, my back plate that holds my battery will fall off with the slightest touch and the battery will fall out with the back plate. I also updated the phone through the sprint firmware update and immediately afterwards it became laggy and slow and . I have called sprint CS probably at least 20 or 30 times trying to talk to sprint about getting a replacement phone, they offered the usual list of craptastic phones and I declined them all. So they offered the TP and I declined that phone because I didnt want to deal with that phone again. I have been trying to get Win Mo device with a physical qwerty keyboard and touch screen. But every rep, Accounting Services Rep, has told me to go through asurion, or there is nothing we can do to. I have even spoken to asurion and they say all I can get is the same model phone as before (the TP). I need advice, I am really tired of calling Sprint to just get nothing in return.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Another success story! It almost didn't work but patience is the key. See you all on the TP2 forum.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Hey all, I took my Touch Pro to a sprint store, and the keyboard is not really working anymore and it locks up about 6 times a day. They won’t replace the phone, because I have a crack in the chrome about 2 mm long…. They say the phone is physically damaged and I have to pay $100 to get it fixed… Sad thing is I have had the crack since almost day one of this phone and had no problems till recently.
If there isn’t any way around the $100 is there a way insurance can get me a TP2? I am out of contract for 4 years now, and when the punk tossed (as in threw) the phone back at me and said its $100. I almost called sprint in front of him and canceled my service. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I'd have played butterfingers and missed his toss, then see what he'd charge. :P

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Just call Tech support guys its that easy but u have to toast ur phone 4times lol in order to get ur tp2 always works
|
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
You guys have to get to advanced tech support or level 2 tech. They are the only ones who can help you. And I have to say, being an ass to the tech on the phone will get you nowhere. They dont owe us anything people, so being jerks to them wont help at all. I was offered a TP1 as a replacement which would have been my 4th phone, and I happily took it. But a day had gone by and I hadnt recieved any confirmation, so I called back about it. Guy told me he was pretty sure I had to take it to my local sprint store, but would check with his supervisor. That fella also told me to take it to the local store, that there was nothing they could do over the phone. So i called my local sprint and told them what i was instructed to do, all they would offer me was a Treo 850. I kindly said no thanks, and called sprint back. A fella transfered me to level 2 tech as he called it, and I got the TP2 with no questions asked. He also gave me 25% off all accessories at my local sprint for the troubles with them. Mine should be here tomorrow.
