Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Went into a Sprint store near my house today, they said the oil slick happens to all touch screens and they ordered a new front housing for the flaking chrome. ](*,) The guy also tried to sell me a TP2, said he could get me one for about 200 bucks lol. How about 100 from Asurion and no contract.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I just wanted to share my success/closure story.
First of all, I was on my 5th Touch Pro. I have had them replaced for all kinds of reasons (Keyboard, Touch Screen, Etc.) and was getting very upset. But my situation is strange. My first 3 TPs were replaced on my old account and the the 4th one was replaced on my new account, which I had to open for a SERO account. My 5th TP (refurb) was starting to come down with all of the "normal" symptoms. It would overheat while running wifi router and charging and it would freeze when I had an incoming call or when randomly text messaging. I took it to 2 different repair stores and at each one of them the techs told me that none of my complaints could be duplicated and just hard reset the phone and told me that the phone was fine. It this point I didn't know what to do. Yesterday morning, I logged into an echat session with a Sprint Customer Rep and explained my situation. He was very understanding (obviously) to my situation and told me to file a claim with Asurion. After politely asking why he thought that these problems were my fault, he seemed as if he didn't have answer. After a brief discussion about how fed up I was with this "top of the line" device and that I was seriously considering a new carrier, he told me to hold on a few minutes while he checked out my options. He came back and told me that he added a note to my account and instructed the repair store to issue me a new device. Yesterday afternoon, I took the phone to my local repair store (one that I had already brought that same phone to before) and told them that I spoke to a customer rep and he had added a note to my account about my phone troubles. The lady at the store looked up said note and talked to the manager. She then came back and said that my new TP2 would be here today. I picked my NIB TP2 this afternoon. To everyone having problems, hang in there. Patience pays off. I still think the TP1 is the best bargaining tool that you can have with Sprint. So long and good riddance TP1. See you all on the other side. |
Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
If the phone genuinely dies, can you get it replaced if you've had it for 15 months and don't have insurance?

99% of the time if you do not have Insurance or within warranty they will not help you.
I always carry insurance on my devices and never really have an issue. On that note my TP device is flawless so I am not looking to upgrade. :) |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
My corporate sprint store lies and says the TP2 has been taken off the list even after I've gone through multiple TP's.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Called advanced support about my overheating/freezing TP and was told the TP is discontinued and was offered HTC Snap, Pre, treo850 and Blackberry Curve after rep came back from a short hold. Rep confirmed sprints warehouse currently out of TP2's.
