So I went back to the store and got them to order me a refurb tp1. They looked at me like I was retarded but they obliged. Just got it and I have to say that I really am happier with the original TP

wow, i miss the light too but the size of the screen undoubtedly out ways a f-in flashlight. d-pad i haven't missed yet. it was always kind of weird for me how easy it was to push the wrong direction or function with it being all one piece. if i really need to push buttons i slide the keyboard open and use the arrows on it.

you know there are hundreds of people trying to get into a touch pro 2 who have brand new refurbished touch pro's. you could have just traded someone who is having a hell of a time and made someones day.

i was thinking that when you slide the keyboard out, you can use the arrows which functions like the dpad, and a keychain flashlight! i bet one of the reps kept it lol!

yes, you can use the slide out for hard directional pad. you even have onscreen directional keys when you open the onscreen keyboard. hey if mastahc411 likes the touch pro over the tp2 great that he has what he wants i was just a little irritated by the fact that there are so many trying to get our hands on one and sprint keeps telling us no that someone would have been glad to just swap out a mint condition tp for the tp2 he returned to sprint. thankfully i just received my tp2 but i had to go through some hoops getting it. if someone offered me a trade i would have been all over it.

Hey, I got sent a refurb TP1 instead of a TP2, but thats fine with me I guess, so I can make a case that I went through at least 1 replacement before and it doesn't work. I was wondering if I could keep the battery cover, backcase, and stylus and just send back the phone without them? They sent me a new charger and battery.

as far as i know all they care about getting back is the phone. i always keep everything but the phone. i have 6 stylus and 5 back covers now for a phone i no longer have lol.

In case anyone wonders, once you open an Asurion claim, it stays open for 60 days if you don't finalize it and I was told there is no way to close it or change the original details. So if you claim the phone was destroyed/damaged on 2/20/10 and don't finalize it until you see a TP2 in stock a month and a half later, not sure if that puts up a flag or anything.

I got my TP2 on Thursday... I stopped in at the Sprint store on Monday complaining of the common issues, and immediately the tech (female, and good lookin) said that the issues were all the standard known issues with the TP. She said that the TP2 wasn't available, but would keep checking. I called back on Tuesday and she said she was able to put one on "hold". But still not available! Then on Thursday afternoon, I got a phone call saying I can come pick up my TP2. Haven't had time to check if it was actually a refurb or not, but I'm sure it is, since it didn't come with a box or anything, just the phone and charger!

Goodluck to all! And see you all on the TP2 forums!!! Time to start flashin!

Tim

I'll just say this. You have to actually call in and "cancel your claim" over the phone. At which point, you can file a new claim.

Yeah so an update on my referb touch pro 2. The windows key and back key are screwed up. the button does not click anymore and seems to have a mind of its own. the problem is that the store is not going to help because it works most of the time. just doesn't have the click and gets stuck. oh well hopefully another problem will arise and i can get another. just tought i woudl update looks like the tp2 has some issues as well or i am just unlucky.

Thats good to know, I must have gotten a lazy rep when I tried to cancel on the phone.
