Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

I thought I would share a quick story.

I read everyones success stories, so I too called and complained to sprint about my hot phone. I have experienced random night time lock ups and they said they would like to replace my phone. I said thanks. A couple days later I had a newly refurbished TP. However the keyboard was bad on the newly refurbed phone. I called sprint and complained a little and they said the would gladly send me another replacement. Once again, a couple days later another phone shows up. This time, the memory card slot doesn't work. I took it into the Sprint store today, and they are ordering me a TP2. Hip Hip Hooray.

The repair tech told me that they were told to get as many TP's out of the system as possible. He gave me a very extensive list of phones and it was hand written. It was kind of strange.....It had all the BB's on it and Treo Pro and the TP and the it said "or" TP2. The word "or" never appeared in his hand written list until the end of it. It was like TP2 was an afterthought.

Anyway....I too will have one soon.

ditto. spent an hour with tech support yesterday, was told to take the tp to a repair center. the tech told me she was ordering a tp2 and it came today. @ tok, don't call everyday. just take it to a repair center because just like booker, tech support told me they were exchanging these phones. just keep your cool and be extra nice and act like you don't want the tp2!

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

It is with no regret that i bid farewell to the TP forum as I move over to the TP2 forum. I just got done doing my exchange today. So heres my story LOL

A month ago I took my TP to a Corp Store in Boston because it was acting wierd every time the humidity went up. Like someone was pressing the power button repeatedly. They replaced it with a refurb TP. I was out of town for a month, and found out a day or so after the replacement that the keyboard didnt work at all. So when I got home I took it to the local franchise repair center and told them what was going on. They said "Oh yeah, well just end up replacing the phone and sprint wants us to get people off the touch pro if we can. Heres a list of phones to choose from" Now, I honestly went in expecting to get a refurb TP, and really had no motives to try and get a Tp2 from them.

It was a huge list which included refurb TP, various blackberry's, rant, and Rim. And down about halfway on the list was TP2. So I was all nice and acted like I didnt even notice the TP2, going through each phone and asking to look at them. I knew right off the bat any phone that didnt have a nice big screen and a slide out keyboard was not an option, but I looked and expressed my dissatisfaction at the design of each phone. Then at the end, I went "Well, I guess well just have to go with the refurb TP, even though sprint doesnt like it. Oh? Theres a TP2 on the list, how come you didnt mark that one?" The tech replied back "I cant order that one". Now I thought this was odd, because they had it on display for sale. A little talking back and forth made me realize I wasnt going to get anywhere. I called around, and all the other chain stores said "Not in stock, but I can have one ordered and here tomorrow."

So I made a few more calls including back to the Corp Store in Boston. Luckily they had a couple TP2 behind the counter reserved for "Repair Exchanges". I spoke with the assistant manager and explained my situation, and that even though I was looking at a two hour drive, I would gladly come down there if he would please replace my phone with a TP2 because none of the other phones offerred me the same features that i wanted. He agreed! 2 hours later I opened the box and took one look at my brand new TP2 and went "Oh, Im liking this already!"

Oh, I still have the paper with the replacement list. If anyone is interested I can type in the list ( I dont have a scanner at the moment).

So to all my TP friends here, I wish you luck and see you on the TP2 forums when you get there.

man, I am hoping my guy pulls through, he ordered me a refurb, and while it is a bit snappier with the latest stock rom, it suffers from the same overnight freezups that have caused me to oversleep. I use the alarm, or let me say HAD used the alarm with my initial TP because it is actually a great, loud morning alarm. He had promised a TP2 phone when they became back in stock but was not interested in ordering a NIB model. Took it to the corpo store and of course in the 10min time frame they couldnt get it to freeze, even blamed my S2U2 saying that was the culprit but it never was before, then went on to lie and said I would have to buy a TP2 outright for 500.00 or take another refurb, then proceeded to show me his week old TP2 and how much he liked it over my phone.. thanks for the sympathy bud. Anyhow, I am gonna call first store back on Monday, but it looks bleak unless I get a strike of good luck.

Funny thing is I liked the TP before the crome broke, and the next one with the screen crap and keyboard gap, now it looks lke I am in the cycle of refurbs sprint it trying to get us out of.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!

First i'd like to everyone's input in this thread...after reading everyone's experiences, I was able to form a game plan. I had all the traditional issues with my tp, keyboard rarely working, overheating, but also weird video glitches sometimes and when listening to the audio player and recievng a text msg would cause the audio to stop while the player kept playing. I was considering taking it in for service mainly for the keyboard, but after reading all the refurb horror stories, i was procrastinating, then i came across the thread.

Armed with memo in hand, I headed over the my nearest 3rd Party Sprint Vendor/Repair center. This particular one was A1-Wireless on Bergenline Ave, in Union City New Jersey 07093. I told them about my fictional talk with Sprint technical support on the phone. I told the store the representative on the phone advised me to go my nearest repair center, they would check the phone for damage and decide whether or not it needed to be handled through Assurion. If it was not water damaged or the chrome wasnt broken that I would be offered the a replacement phone of which I could chose a TP2. If that didnt work, I still had the memo as plan B.

Long story short, they checked my phone and found my claims were true, and offered me different phones, a treo snap tour bleh bleh. I told them the Sprint representative I talked to told me I could chose a TP2. They said yes. but didnt offer it to me because it wasnt in the warehouse. I told them I would wait, and that it would stil be refurb. I got a call last friday and I was told that the tp2 was available and I confirmed that I still wanted it. I picked it up monday. It was a refurb and all I got with it was a less rad charger than the one I got with my NIB TP2...slightly pissed about not getting at least a screen protector or carrying case it didnt even fit in the old one...the reburb itself looks like NIB phone, everything works perfect, not a single scratch and I like this phone a lot more. Something semi-magical about a fully function tf3d2.1 and that screen, also seems much more responsive but not too thrilled about no camera flash and 6.1, but ill live. Thanks to everyone who share their experiences and see everyone in the TP2 forum :)

I actually got my Touch Pro the same way. My Mogul was randomly turning it self off, I used the self service web page and kept trying until I got a touch pro offered to me. I'd usually read the thread, but it's 120+ pages long and I'm home sick with the flu =(. My eyes would die trying to read everything, lol. I don't have a reason to replace my phone at this time, but does anyone know if the self service website is viable? Or do I actually have to go into a store or service center to do the exchange?

website I was talking about https://indirect3.sprint.com/apps/ad...&FROM_SPRINT=Y

Not much luck at Tukwila, they claim to have failed 2 audits and will not order a NIB (talked to a so called manager). They are willing to order a refurb TP2, but of course they don't open till 10am so I think the east coasters drain the supply before we get the chance.

Tried Tacoma, they will not budge from ordering any TP2. There were two other TP's in for issues when I was there too.

website I was talking about https://indirect3.sprint.com/apps/ad...&FROM_SPRINT=Y

I just did an exchange yesterday, and only the TP is available online.

My keyboard wasn't working, so I talked to Sprint about getting a different phone and they replied "we can check to see if you are available for an upgrade," which I of course refused.
I then took it in to the nearest repair center(about a half hour away) hoping for better luck, and they said "you'd have to call Sprint and see if they would reset your upgrade status." So I said no, just fix the keyboard, at which point the tech mumbled "let's see what kind of virus got downloaded this time."
When I picked it up, he said there were screws missing, and tried to get me to cop to trying to fix it myself, which is funny since that is the same center I took it to when the keyboard was out two months ago, so apparently HE left them out.
Got it home, and now it won't charge. I talked to Sprint again, mentioned the memo, and was given the company line: "those claims are made by third party sites and are not made by Sprint, and are not supported."

So I went to Advanced Exchange and just ordered a replacement TP... hoping for at least a functional refurb, as it looks like I am stuck with it for now.
