Can I use an Alltel Touch Pro on Verizon?

So I have been using my Verizon XV6900 for awhile now, however, after a few drops and dips in the pool, its not exactly running like it used to. I think I have decided I would like to go Touch Pro or Diamond. I do not have a contract so I would like to make my purchase on ebay, however, I have noticed Alltel Touch Pros are cheaper. Would it be possible to purchase one of the many Alltel Touch Pros and activate it on Verizon?

I tried searching but I seem to find a lot of conflicting answers and it seems I need an answer that is time relevant as Verizon's policies change.

i'm sure you can get it activated, but it might take a few calls to get the right service tech.

alltel touch pros are cheaper? wow thats weird. the vzw ones suck anyways because they have less ram and honestly they look ugly.

In a short word - NOPE. Since we changed to blackberries at work (where work will pay for my service if I have a blackberry and free service is good to me) I went to the store to trade somebody for a storm. The guy at the store was very nice, but once he tried to add my Alltel pro to his verizon account, no dice. We called tech support, and they said that they would not load any Alltel ESN to their network unless you were a prior Alltel customer with an alltel plan. I called them out on the "we will accept any phone" BS, but they would not budge. Tried to call again today, thinking since I am the holder of the alltel phone that is now on Verizon that maybe I would have better luck, but it didn't work out again.

So, I now have to try to sell a phone that can't be activated unless somebody has an alltel account with Verizon, since we have gone through the transition here. Verizon is so large corporate it makes me sick

Thanks Wildcat, saved me a lot of hassle trying to save a few bucks. Looks like I will just have to get a Verizon model.
