Re: A solution to service in rural area?
Doesn't matter how far away the tower is...
If your area is a hilly area or has lots of trees it will cut down the power of your signal quite a bit. Not much you can do about it really...even a repeater will have issues unless you put up a pretty sizeable tower... I used to live in the catskill region of NY. The Hills there would kill the signal (lots of dead spots) and they had ordinances in every town stopping anyone from putting up more towers to get the coverage. |

Re: A solution to service in rural area?
distance from the tower plays a HUGE part in signal strength. if he has signal out side or even not far from the house a repeater setup with the outside antenna on/near the roof on the side of the house thats in the direction of the nearest tower will give him signal in his house.

Re: A solution to service in rural area?
I am with Alltel. Since the merger, my signal strength dropped dramatically. Installed the latest Alltel rom and then the latest vzw radio and signal strength is mostly back to normal. Certainly worth a try.
