There are GPRS-based POS credit card terminals that will take credit card data and send to issuers for auths and refunds and stuff. I know my company works with one in Asia that uses them but I am not sure they are within your budget. May be the best way...

You can always find a credit card device that works off wi-fi and use your TP as a access point.

First I give the OP the benefit of the doubt over the fact that he may be on crack, nomsayin he just didnt ask the question right . Secondly, the credit card companies (visa, mc,amex..) dont do the processing of the transactions, it is the merchant processor who is the middle man,thirdly that is part of what I do. I sell the friggin service and have really good hook ups
Lastly, there is an aplication out already for the iphone that uses 3G connection to conect to the gateaway and process the card in real time. Also I of course asked about the winmo app, and it is coming out in a month or two.
The isht isnt expensive at all as long as you are educated about the process and dealing with the right person as there are many money cheats out there.

You are (sort of) right.

Merchants do not send financial transactions directly to Visa/Mastercard most of the time, they send transactions through a gateway, which then processes the messages and forwards to the issuers.

The iPhone app probably goes through a proprietary gateway which then forwards info to Visa/MC/Amex/etc.

Just remember, you probably earn less money with a keyed entry credit card transaction than with a swiped/chip read/proximity read transaction.

This is what i am looking for. By using the actual machine cc transactions are cheaper and more likely/safe and to be credited to my bank than using a non swipe method.

this would be for a fair/ off site event. of course i can use the tp for internet than usb the cc machine to my laptop but i wanted to eliminate the laptop. to make it more mobile and less bulky.

bluetooth cc reader. it reads the barcode and you install software on the PPC to dial the code and approve the transaction through a 3rd party carrier (Who gets commission in like 2-3%)
