Re: GPS Issue on Alltel HTC Touch Pro

This issue has been a thorn in my side. I switched over to a sprint pri, from using update pri in rz's manila 2.5 rom, and my gps worked perfectly. The only problem I had was that I took a hit in revA and evdo internet speeds dramatically. I had to go back to the alltel pri but no luck with gps at all with that. I have looked into everything else I can to get it to work but it has all been useless.

Had the same problem with my refurb/replacement Alltel TP. Did the same thing GEOWET did to fix it.

Re: GPS Issue on Alltel HTC Touch Pro

I'd like to affirm what I've read in this thread - that something just isn't right about the 2.01.671.1 Alltel Touch Pro ROM and the GPS. I had used the original stock rom for my Alltel Touch Pro (1.05.671.4) for almost a year and it worked pretty much flawlessly. However, it was lacking a bit in the feature department compared to some of the custom ROMs, but I held off on flashing custom until there was a stock ROM I could flash back to. Once 2.01.671.1 was published by HTC, I tried some (dozens) of the custom roms for the Touch Pro. The custom ROMs offered the features I desired, but usually at a price - performance, stability, bugs, etc. I could never convince myself to stick with a custom ROM permanently so I flashed back to the official Alltel ROM. However, since 1.05.671.4 is not available for download, I flashed to 2.01.671.1 and I am sad to report that the GPS has been wildly erratic in the same locations I frequented regularly when the phone worked well under 1.05.671.4. On 2.01.671.1, the GPS will work fine one day, and then nothing the next. Sometimes turning off the E911 location and enabling it again will fix it. Sometimes changing the port of the GPS external GPS settings and changing it back will fix it - but sometimes not - which makes me think that me enabling/disable settings has nothing to do with the resolution and it is driving me nuts. If nothing else, I hope this post will help others with the same problem realize they're not alone (or in sane!).

Re: GPS Issue on Alltel HTC Touch Pro

Tiggah45. I had the same experience. Tried different radios, found the VZW 1.03.09V worked best for me for both phone and gps locks quickly. Hope a radio solves your problem. It is maddening.
