Re: Pros and Cons of the Touch Pro?

I'll be upgrading to a pro within the coming week, but I've had a vogue for the better part of the last year and I haven't had any problems with it. Flashed to a WM 6.5 rom and its like a brand new phone. And to boot, its made it through being washed... twice!

Re: Pros and Cons of the Touch Pro?

I have a con.. PRICE. WM is not for everyone, but just because you can tweak it and flash it doesn't mean you have too. It will work perfectly fine on its own believe it or not.

CON: volume control when pressed takes up the whole screen. When changing volume while on skyfire or tcpmp/core player, it will pause the video to change volume.

you don't have to use the HTC volume control, there is a cab you can DL that will change it to use the small stock WM volume bubble.

Re: Pros and Cons of the Touch Pro?

Okay wow, this thread is getting a HUGE amount of replies, and I really appreciate it guys. I'll try and answer some points that were raised.

Get her a pre - Well, she has done reading on the Pre and TP after I told her about what you guys were saying. She is unsure about the Pre, but as for price it is waaay out of her league. 299 on a 3 year plan and she gets an upgrade allowance of 150 off, so a pre is out and thats why she was looking at a TP.

Get her a hero - That would be great if Bell would get their freakin act together and start getting some phones! Rogers has ALL android devices and its REALLY annoying. Bell has jack ****. As said before, best phones they have are the TP and the Pre.

Another note, she has actually started to research the TP and watch videos about its interface and how it works. She seems really set on wanting to get one of these if she can. Her reasoning was that as long as my dad and I will help her tweak her phone she will be just fine with it.

As of right now she has said that for her upgrade she will 'keep the TP in mind as her #1 choice unless something really big comes up about it that she doesnt like, and if the HTC Firestone comes out on Bell, she wants one of those.'
But if the way Bells going right now, I wouldnt be surprised if we never see the TP2 OR the Firestone.

JUST AS A BETTER IDEA - Shes about 13, and everyone in the family tweaks things, and she has recently started (ie. Desktop tweaking with object dock, rainmeter)

Re: Pros and Cons of the Touch Pro?

Most peoples cons are probably the battery and over heating.

wow, bells pricing is different from sprints. Here in GA the pre on a 2 year plan was cheaper than a TP on a 2 year plan.

If she is set on the TP then hook her up with a tp, however, in the interest of batterylife, stability, and performance, I wouldnt let her use it long with a stock rom, because it will become very irritating quickly (as im sure you and your dad know from being WM phone users). So far, and this is just in my personal experience, the new silence rom has the best battery life, best performance, and just as good if not better stability, of any rom ive tried. now thats including 6.1 and 6.5 roms. I have no run any 6.1 roms from silence, so i cant vouche for them, but i had excellent results (almost as good as the current silence rom) with mighty rom 4, which is 6.1 manilla. It really depends on the interface she wants, but i think that most people will find they like titanium better when it runs smoothly and the batt lasts.

Best of luck to you and your sister. Its always nice to see younger folks interested in geeky things like this.

Re: Pros and Cons of the Touch Pro?

The TP is a very good phone. Have her check out the HTC Hero on youtube.
