Sprint HTC Touch Pro stuck at boot - bricked?

Hi,

I've been using an unlocked Sprint HTC Touch Pro for several months now. I've always used MightyMike Roms and I'm now using his latest version released 07-18.

A couple of hours ago, I soft reset my phone and when the phone restarted, it would not continue after the black screen that says "Touch PRO", I can see the red letters on the bottom of the screen, but nothing else.

I have tried hard resetting it and soft resetting several times, connecting it to the charger and to the computer, and pretty much pushing all sorts of buttons when the phone is resetting. There doesnt seem to be anything that I can do to get it pass the first screen.

Anybody has any ideas? Worst case scenario, if I need to take it to Sprint... would they be able to tell that it's unlocked by the red letters that do display? Would that void my warranty?

Thanks!

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro stuck at boot - bricked?

hold down the power and volume down button and use the stylus to push the reset button on the bottom

keep holding power and reset until it goes into the boot loader

it should say serial, then plug in the usb cable and it will change to usb

try flashing your rom now to see if this gets your phone back to working order

let us know if that doesn't work

.... like they said, and NO, you aren't even close to bricked. "Bricked" means you have a brick. Bricks don't light up and try to boot.

did you try holding both the power button and volume down button and pushing the reset and still holding the power and volume button to see if it gets into the boot loader?

Re: Sprint HTC Touch Pro stuck at boot - bricked?

Well, first of all thank you all for the quick replies. This was way easier than I thought it would be, I've been used to establish an activesync connection before flashing, I didn't even know that I can execute the boot loader with a key combination.

I followed the steps above, reflashed Mighty's ROM and everything looks normal. The PDA ROM Update utility couldn't show my current firmware's version before flashing Mighty's... I thought that was strange.

In any event, thank you all again for the help! I've fixed my phone and learned something new!

On a side note: Mighty's ROM is awesome, I don't think it was at fault for my phone getting stuck at boot... I blame the texas sun, I think my flash memory got a heatstroke and forgot its contents
