PPC with BT headset and BT GPS

I think this is a general Bluetooth question and not specific to the Touch Pro. I always use my Sprint Touch Pro with a Blueant Z9 BT headset, but I recently purchased a Garmin Zumo 660 GPS that also pairs with my phone as a hands free device with a hands free profile (HSP) .

It allows making/receiving phone calls using its touch screen, built in microphone, and speaker phone. (It will also do this with a BT headset, but I'm not using it that way.)

The problem is that apparently the Touch Pro (or maybe it's all phones) don't appear to allow two hands free devices to be connected at the same time. This means that I have to manually disconnect my Blueant headset before the Zumo GPS will connect, and vice verse.

This is a major pain when I am in and out of my car or on and off my motorcycle, and have to stop to manually connect/disconnect every time. Am I doing something wrong, or is there a way to use both devices at the same time, or at least automate switching between the two?

Re: PPC with BT headset and BT GPS

Why buy a bluetooth gps when your phone already has a gps chip.

I'm planning a long multi-day motorcycle trip and I wanted to use my phone, rather than spend the extra money. The issues I ran into were too many to overcome:

* When using the GPS on the phone, it discharges faster than it can charge
* The phone isn't waterproof or vibration proof (the Garmin Zumo is)
* The screen is small and hard to read while riding

The Zumo's output plugs into the auxiliary input of the factory radio on my Harley Ultra Classic. With an aftermarket adapter and cable, I can use the factory headset to listen to GPS notifications and make/receive phone calls.

Re: PPC with BT headset and BT GPS

AFAIK, all phones will handle only one device over bluetooth at the time.
