Wifi settings

How can I set wifi so that it stays connected when the screen shuts off? I have it connected at work and need it to stay connected but I don't want to leave the phone's screen on all the time.

It will not turn off your backlight, just set your backlight to dim/turn off in so many sec....and you should be set.

Re: Wifi settings

What will that do to the battery since the back light is still on, just dimmed?

Re: Wifi settings

The back light will not drain the phone as much as having WiFi enabled and connected all day. You might want to consider getting a dock or using a usb cable to keep it charging.

Why is it that you need WiFi on all day long?

I do a lot of walking on campus (I work at a college) and need to be connected to be able to receive emails. Alltel's signal sucks here and most of the time I loose my data connection.

Actually I can pretty much do anything on my company's pc, beside "adult" material which doesn't matter for me as I have the cache turned off on my pc (he he) but I wouldn't do that sort of stuff at work anyways. Stream music all day and surf the web whenever I want or actually need to. Just need the wifi for emails and weather updates as I am out wandering.

Hey nbd if you do some adult....lol...you dont have to lie...everyone does it at sometime or another...mistake or not.....lol...

If that is the case...and if you can turn off your backlight...then "DontSleep" should do the trick.

Since you are not going to be hrs just wandering around enough to have the TP die, cause like rusty stated the battery will start draining pretty fast with wifi on and not sleeping, you will have enough battery to return and recharge once back at your desk.

Ha ha!
I have been using it for about week now with the wifi (finally got odyssey to work) and it actually does better on wifi then it does on the network (it keeps switching from EVDO to 1X, thus the connection issue). My battery would only last maybe half the day at best anyways. Now with it being active at all times I'll have to see what it does.
