heck no!!!! in fact i have 2 xbm alltel tp's that i havent sent back yet and im not sending them back until i get the txt message from alltel telling me to its odd its been 2 weeks and i usually get the txt in a week

haha i got a xbm like this. good thing i didnt keep it. the touch response would have been messed up soon.

i just got ma tp replaced by a sprint store 2 weeks ago, they had to order it, as when they ordered it , it was just the phone that came and i thought it was a refurb but its not sayin its a refurb, and looks brand new

Your only other option is complain like hell about whatever you can manage to complain like hell about and cross your fingers. Odds are it won't work, but it can't hurt to try. Go to the store once the new one's in and complain about the overheating while charging, and other things that are design flaws with the phone that they can't just repair, and hope that works. I know I got major discounts on my TP by fighting hard via email with Sprint over what a POS the Mogul was, getting me various discounts before I qualified for them. This time around while I have no plan to PAY for a TP2, and I'm mostly happy enough with the phone to not be upset if I can't get the new one, after the TP2 hits stores I still plan to go in over my failing keyboard and hype up the overheating issue while I'm at it and cross my fingers that their solution is to upgrade me. Can't hurt to try, but considering everything else, I won't cry if it doesn't work. I don't feel like they owe me quite like they did after the Mogul. Although I do think HTC should answer for this overheating problem.

I don't mean to come across as harsh, but it gets old hearing this stuff every time a new device comes out. "But I just bought the last one!" Someone has to. They have to come out with a new one at some point. Unfortunately for you, it happened to be right after you bought yours. Maybe next time you'll be the guy who times it right and someone else gets screwed.

Come on folks - we haven't really seen much of the TP2 yet, and already you are crying over it? Seriously. For all we know it's a piece of junk. What in the world are you even complaining about any way? A larger screen is the only improvement of the device that I've read about (the rest of the hardware is basically identical, even down to the camera - but without the flash) - all the other hoopla is over TF3D, and we've had that port available for a couple of months now. I'll happily keep my TP, tyvm.

Well I just Paid $55.00 and a new 2yr. (15mo. into old),
for a new XV6800, (since VZW is banning Qwest ESN's).
And now I see the TP selling for $99.99 + a $70.00 mail in rebate...
And the XV6900 (POS) has been $9.99 for a week now.
I have to wait for one of my other 4 lines to come up for renual to look into getting
a replacement.
But I don't know, from what I hear about all the defects out there, I might just stick with the 6800 untill I win the lottery.

Would'nt ya know it, after trying to get those ba~tards to commit to a deal, "Oh I don't see a $70.00 mail in rebate available here".
And if it's anything like the deal I got with my first XV6800, they want the UPC from the box. And it must be an add a line.

To play devil's advocate, it's not just the larger screen. The screen tilts, some feel the button layout's better, improved keyboard, reviews suggest the camera actually IS better despite no increase in megapixels (although I also lament the loss of a flash), the speakerphone makes the current one seem even MORE pathetic than we already knew it was, it has GSM for international use, it has improved battery life, and apparently it no longer melts into a puddle of goo when you dare talk on it while it charges. These honestly ARE all good reasons to want one, and if I had JUST bought the current model only to learn now that the new one exists and is on the way, I might be a little upset. But these are people who clearly know how to use the 'net and are on this board, so they can't claim that level of ignorance. They didn't do their research, and they have nobody to blame for the fact that their phone's already almost out of date.

I bought mine two days before its release date, so I have absolutely NOTHING to complain about and can judge with no timeframe bias whether it's worth upgrading to. And as of right now, I'm not sure it'll be worth the $250 or so come this November when I can upgrade again. I'll miss the flash, the other stuff is really nice but not a deal breaker, and I'm so used to WM 6.5 that having to step down to 6.1 until it gets cracked might drive me crazy. I'll either see if I'm lucky enough to talk them into upgrading me when I get my current one repaired, or I'll wait for a Tegra/Seadragon-based phone to come out.

I agree, I am sorry if it sounds like I was complaining. I just didn't do my research, I have a problem with impulse buying haha. I'm only 18 and barely starting college and all the money that comes from my job I get to spend it on whatever I want since I have no other bills. So many times I just go okay, boom not even researching. Oh and saying i should have known because of these boards, look at my join date...

i watched a review of the tp2 and i love it. thats how i decided how i liked it so much and other people do the same . what would be the point in reviews then if people didnt????

Odd question, what is the normal life span of the phones? Didn't the Mogal last like 2+ yrs, the 6700 about the same, the Treo's were all like 2+ yrs, plus the old phone was still for sale when thenew released, right? I wonder if I am right, are they basically pulling the phone dueto it having so many issues?

Plus I would not see spending the time and money on R&D and only having a product on the market for 7-8 months
