Re: Nice hack to increase signal strength

Man, no matter what I do I can't get my TP to connect. I've installed every driver I can find, but when I enter ##DIAG# and/or enter QPST, whenever I connect my TP to my XP machine it never installs a COM port. I look under Device Manager and there are just the two COM1/COM2 ports. Nothing under Modems either. The only device that gets populated is under Network Adapters. Even in QPST there's no additional COM port to add. I've even tried it on 2 other XP boxes and nada.....

I never had this problem on my old Mogul. Any other advice?

Re: Nice hack to increase signal strength

I always forget something when someone posts on this post. It took me forever to figure this out, first open QPST Configuration. Down in the lower right hand side, click the button ADD NEW PORT. From there; and with your phone plugged in look for COM21, that's what mine was and others seem to agree. Then it should sit there and say STATE = WAITING, and PHONE N/A.

From there, put in your ##DIAG#( ##3424#) and it should find it right away.

Please report back with any findings.

Re: Nice hack to increase signal strength

well I had to change my settings back to default. I started having signal issues after a few days. I now have them set to 500 less than stock, noticablly better signal, and it is more consistant.

Appreciate the help, but when I go to ADD NEW PORT, there are no ports to add. When I plug my phone into my XP box there is never a COM port added under Device Manger either.....

Maybe a registry setting I inadvertently changed?

Re: Nice hack to increase signal strength

here are the drivers that I used to get my device to be discovered. install this, then plug your pone into the computer. let it do its thing, It should find a new device, htc modem or som doo-doo like that... then go to manager, under network adapters you should see "windows mobile based device" . unplug your phone, and dial ##DIAG#. once it opens up the modem screen plug it into your computer, then open QPST, select add new port, and there should be something new in there.

at least that is how i got mine werkin....

how do we learn? we try, and make mistakes. when Edison was asked why it took him 100 tries to make a working light bulb, he replied that he diddnt fail 99 times, he simply learned 99 ways NOT to make a light bulb.
