Re: Keyboard doent work
your keyboard is dead, time to get a new phone, go through insurance if u have it, mine just died last week the same way, i tested it by flashing a few roms and even the stock one and nothing, itll light up but fade out but nothing happens when i mash all the buttons, dead keyboard. it would sporadically work once and while but almost 98% of the time it wouldnt so i already got my new refurb from sprint on thursday, if u have sprint, go here to get a free replacement (if u have tep). and u should get one via fedex by tuesday, or else goto a repair shop and maybe they can fix it

Re: Keyboard doent work
This happened to my wife's phone too. I brought it to the local repair shop (not the corporate store - those people are mean!) and they ordered a new phone using TEP.

Re: Keyboard doent work
my question is, why does it happen? it seems to me that it's a known issue with these phones, but what's causing it? and what can we do to correct or prevent it from happening in the future?

Re: Keyboard doent work
Overtime the ribbons under they keyboard, due to heat no longer make contact with the metal surface probably leading to a really weak connection. I had the same problem with my phone, theres a tutorial on ppcgeeks with a diy of how to tape down the ribbons.

Re: Keyboard doent work
Same thing hap and happened to me. It started skipping letters that I typed and spacing without hitting the space bar. After a couple of days . . . it stopped working all together. Did a hard reset . . nothing. Got a replacement within two days . .. fast shipping (Sprint). The one they sent seems to be working great but "google" revealed that its pretty common.
