Tell me about it, if I don't leave my phone on the charger at work, it will die by the time I get home.

Unfortunately this has been the way things are for the TP. Many of us have accepted it and have multiple batteries to get us through the day :(

i had the same issue i flash all radios and found one that gave me the battery life it needed. im on the us cellular radio. im located in virginia. the radio is the big culprit. disable your radio one day and look how long it last. so find a good radio

Darkjedi 07-17-2009 06:25 PM

Re: Question.why Cant I Get 6 Hours Off 1 Battery?>>

The radio on the TP is a doozy. I have a feeling HTC somehow borked the design of the antennae/radio chip so that it's way less efficient than what it should be. The mogul never had a battery problem this bad, even though it did have a slight better battery. It also doesn't overheat like the TP does unless wmwifirouter is running.

hahahah, battery party favors for everyone! battery hats, battery balloons and even battery cake!! yum

And on that note of giving out batteries, the OP can go to some Sprint stores and ask for spare batteries. That's how I got my 2 spares, the first one was really messed up and looked in rough shape so I stopped by another store near work and asked for one there as well. They are usually pretty nice about it, but try looking in the corporate service and repair centers. Those are the most likely to have them.

you know your way aroung dog, i can tell. Still it is a bisht to have to carry an extra one all the time. TP will be perfect with a 14 hours battery...

No body throwed me a party when I became a VIP :( just kidding  but seriously turning off my bluetooth when I'm not using it not only saved me 2x the batt but also made sure no one is trying to bluejack me :-| and I have my twitter app set to 30mins or unless I'm super out than 1hr

Re: Question.why Cant I Get 6 Hours Off 1 Battery?>>

mugen powered extended batteries are AMAZING investments, but the problem with the TP is that its a lil bulky to begin with, so an ext batt would make it GIGANTIC

I have an omnia with an extended and i'm on day 3 of heavy use, got like 10-15% left now. Its the size of a TP now...

if the bulk is worth it, spend the money on a mugen powered battery. It'll be a lil more help than having 2 batteries IMO

I used to get terrible battery life, and I fixed it. I easily go all day on a single charge now. Check out the link in my sig.

People having battery problems EVEN after trying different radios... This one's for you... Try this and let me know if you see any difference. Note for this study since the terms are just battery use and not cellular strength, I recommend everyone flashes to Telus 1.04.05V Radio, and simply avoid roaming. I don't know which is the most [battery] stable Radio for GSM.
#1. You need your SPC. BAFMSL is the quickest way.
Link: http://code.baf.cc/mslgrab/BAFMSL.cab
#2. After getting your SPC, click (from within the program) on EPST. and click 'Edit'
#3. Click 'View Info' then 'NAM Settings'.
#4. Go down to ACCOLC in this windows and edit it to be 7 or 8.
#5. Click 'View Info' again, then 'Modem Settings'
#6. Edit your Slot Cycle Index (SCI) to 1. You're Preferred Service System should be [Carrier Name] Only. I.E., I use Sprint, so mine says 'Sprint Only'. Finally make sure that 'HDR Hybrid Preferred' is enabled.
#6.b While you are already here, click 'View Info', then 'Data Parameters', and make sure that your Rev.A is ENABLED!!!
#7. Click OK at the top right corner and click OK again. You MUST let it Soft Reset... Or else!:twisted::twisted::twisted::twisted: :-p

I am almost certain this will help you guys out... Just lemme know if you feel it is any better over a while. Be sure to charge your battery all the way before testing.
OH!... Gotta add another quick step before posting... ... ... ... K!

I feel terrible for you guys... I wake up at 7:30 and start using my phone through the entire day fairly regularly for e-mail, streaming radio, etc. and by the time I get home and charge it again at 10:30 I usually have about 40% battery life left... This is my 2nd TP, but my first was just as good.

I think it has a lot to do with how the device is used. My buddy has a TP and says he can go all day, at least, on one charge and it takes me 3 batteries for an average day.

But I have Exchange Push setup and I get a fair bit of email so it is almost like having 3G on and downloading almost constantly...

What does #4. ACCOLC do?

Tilde88 07-18-2009 10:14 AM

Re: Question.why Cant I Get 6 Hours Off 1 Battery?>>

It is designed for GSM bands in case of emergencies to block out a certain range of network channels to control data flow for security personnel. But it has a side effect, this setting changes the millisecond polling of towers. This is good to have at a higher number (highest 9) for people with less signal because when the phone's signal is low it continuously polls the satellites (to make it simple: if you have bad signal, it will keep attempting to get a better signal by pushing the connection... Which depletes your battery) in an attempt to raise the signal.

Thanks. :thumbleft: I've tried almost every single thing on your helpful myspace list (except for flashing to a custom ROM). Even though I have the Diamond I figure most could help.

Unfortunately I only get about 2 hours of talk time (sometimes 1.5 sometimes 2.5).
:-({|=

How many hours of talk time do you get now?

Tilde88 07-30-2009 05:10 PM

Re: Question.why Cant I Get 6 Hours Off 1 Battery?>>

Lol my phone works for almost 2 days just almost.... I do about 25-40 phone calls which are at least 2 mins each... so talk time that i actually use at max would be 80 mins, but on day two of not charging (i refuse to charge overnight, and charge only when it dies) itll be depleted by the time i take my pre-sleep shower (~1-2am)

Would i Have to do this everytime i flash a new ROM???

Re: Question.why Cant I Get 6 Hours Off 1 Battery?>>

why can't the battery just work on the TP, it seems like it took HTC a year to release a rom with decent battery usage on the mogul, i am just shocked at the recurrence of battery problems on the TP

jmelan 07-30-2009 09:29 PM

Re: Question.why Cant I Get 6 Hours Off 1 Battery?>>

as a test, i left my TP on in an area of a hospital with no signal - battery went from 80% to dead in less than 2 hours, after that i had to start turning the phone off when i went to that area

I think it has to do with wm 6.5. when i was on 6.1 the battery life was alright. And why is my battery getting hot???? its just weird

No, this stays embedded in your phones' NAND flash chip (er i think its the NAND could be diff).
If however you end up screwing up something in your phone you also have to manually replace the settings.

The actual HTC Touch Pro -Unbranded- is the buttcrap <--! However, after our lovely phone carriers (Sprint, Telus, crApT&T and so forth) modify them for their customers expectations they actually end up making it a P.O.S.... And sometimes like with Verizon they completely lock down GPS through SPL bootloader so you can pay a little more for internet GPS...w00t!](*,)](*,)](*,)

If your phone is in a dead signal area as the poster above you was, raise your ACCOLC to 9 as well as your Slot Cycle index... If you don't know what these are then stop beeing a lurker and read my post earlier! :-D
I guarantee your battery life should double in that area... (If you dont use your data connection much. Texting on 1x (roaming) is fine... Data slow but ok too...

KillAByteZ 07-31-2009 12:09 AM

ok ...i tried the settings some the post i quoted earlier and, i saw quite a bit of change on my TP. i talked for about 30 min and i only dropped to 90% and didnt get as hot. before it would get very hot and battery would drop to 70%. ima get on youtube to see if its drainin.
