Touch Pro Keyboard Replacement Choice

Well, they won't do anything but send a refurbished phone with my insurance even though they admit the refurb leave a lot to be desired.

They are offering me a $75 for having to have accept another phone since they couldn't repair my NIB phone that the keyboard just died on.

So, here is my choices.

1) Keep my phone. At least I know what is wrong with it and that everything else is ok.

2) Take the refurb and the $75 and hope it is a decent refurb.

What do you guys think I should do. I am literally torn on this one.

Take the money!!

What kind of coverage do you have?

I would probably take the refurb. If you have TEP and the refurb gets messed up, just replace it again.

Re: Touch Pro Keyboard Replacement Choice

Take the $$$ and refurb. If you don't like the condition of the refurb, wait a while and then complain that the USB port is defective...or something else that is not easily proven over the phone. WTF...you paid insurance for a reason! Hopefully you'll luck out and get a decent condition refurb.

I have TEP on my phone. Just tiring having to drive 40 miles one way to prove the phone is broken again. This whole keyboard thing is lame. My phone as NIB and I am afraid the refurb will end up being a used phone that breaks on me too.

be sure to hard reset and be sure the keyboard doesn't wake up before you go down there. it would suck for the to just reformat and get the keyboard working and waste a few hours of your day for nothing!

you can get a brand new phone or alot more than $75 out of them if you have the touch pro. I speak from experience, you can get ALOT more. Don't settle for the $75.

"...go on, take the money and run...."

once the keyboard goes out (in my experience anyway) the pphone stqarts to slow down more and more leading to hard resets every couple weeks, i tried livin with it for like 2 months, but couldnt stand it anymore.

Re: Touch Pro Keyboard Replacement Choice

Somewhere around April or May Sprint started doing a permanent fix to the keyboard problem. Only on the refurbs, though. They were taking NIB TP's and fixing the keyboards. My and a few others on here got TP's that had "0" time on usage, man date was May, etc. So, I guess it depends where it comes from, but the point is NIB is not going to do you any good unless HTC has started another manufacturing round, which I doubt. So, take the money and, eventually if not this time, you will come up with a good one. Worse case, you can go through a couple more and make a case for a free TP@, right? I know you are a custom ROM'er, so reloading is a breeze for you, Ninja. I am surprised they make you go the 40 miles. I live in a very rural area (forest) and I never go to a retail store. You might be able to make a case for exchanges to be sent to you. Hope this helps!

matt

Is it within one year of the purchase date?
If so, they must give you a NIB (New In Box) replacement as stated in the manufacturing warranty.

take the money and a refurb. ur lucky u got offered money on top of a replacement, ive gone through a dozen moguls and half a dozen tps and never been offered extra dough, a few times they did credit me $100 because i had to go through assuirion and order a new phone because sprint was oos. if its a bad refurb go through online advanced exhachange and they are usually quick, ull have another phone at ur door within 2 days with an empty envelope to mail back ur old one

Yes, it is... but they insist that it could be a refurb.

Now I am waiting on it to show up. Unfortunately, I think customer service goofed and I might end up with 2. Not sure how that is going to work out. LOL

Got a call from Sprint today. Apparently they did send out two phones by accident. 1 NIB and 1 Refurb. I am suppose to refuse the refurb at the door. AND they already credited my account they $75.

Yeah, One is coming from telesales and one is coming from advanced exchange.

Anyone remember if the boxes say telesales or advanced exchange on them? I know the weight of a NIB phone is about 3lbs or so. What is the weight on a refurb? It would be my luck to refuse the wrong one. LOL

Is the AE website not working for anyone else? I enter in my info, then it says I should go to a sprint store for more assistance.

I hear this will happen if your phone has been replaced so many times.

See, told you that you should get a NIB replacement.
I personally go in and get mine in the store. Woot for Alltel.
It's going to suck when it officially is 100% verizon. :/
