How do i establish sync connection with existing contacts?

Hey guys,

Been having this problem recently. I'll flash a new ROM to my device, restore my contacts through PIMbackup, and then add contacts on my device as time goes on.

Then eventually i want to sync my contacts back over to my outlook. But when i create a new partnership and try to sync contacts, outlook tries to merge and creates hundreds of duplicates on both my phone and outlook contacts.

I figure this is a pretty standard scenario here. Anyone know how to fix this?
