Re: Whats your favorite Web browser?

I know if I try to scroll when the page is loading I have problems, but once it loads completely it scrolls just fine. As far as zooming, just double tap or open the menu and move the slider. It could be a matter of screen sensitivity which I know there are plenty of hacks for that.

Re: Whats your favorite Web browser?

My experience-
IE, Opera 9.5/9.7/mini, Skyfire, Netfront, Iris, Fennec, UCWEB. These are the browsers I currently have installed...which is patently ridiculous! The new IE is ok if a little slow and clumsy. The only browser I know of that will report the right device on sites like powerdeck. Opera Mini is the fastest and handles text the best but is inconsistent with links (sometimes they work, other times they don't). Operating in the java environment makes it less convenient to use, even with all the mortscript tweaks. Opera 9.5 is SLOW. 9.7 holds promise to bridge between 9.5 and mini but is early beta buggy. Skyfire is fast and best at flash but doesn't handle text and scaling as well as Opera. Netfront isn't any better than Mini at text, is slower and not free. Iris is as slow as 9.5 even though they tout its speed and messes up graphically on more than a few sites. Fennec is alpha buggy buggy buggy. UCWEB, the most popular browser in China...because they're probably forced to use it. I'm not, so I won't! It's just plain ugly.

I'm a longtime Opera mini user. I tried to use 9.7 as my go to browser but it's way too buggy at this point. Recently I find myself using Skyfire more and more. I hate all the home page junk and its page resizing could be better, but it seems to be the best compromise between speed and usability for me. I think that once the bugs in 9.7 are swatted, it could be the mobile browser to beat as long as they don't get caught up in the social network stuff Skyfire is mired in.

Re: Whats your favorite Web browser?

Thanks to pastafarian for the detailed breakdown of the availabel browsers. I finally gave up on Iris, the orientation thing was killing me, and I honestly like how the new IE renders the pagesz I visit most (such as this one as I Type) Don't browse enough for my opinion to matter a whole lot, but there it is. I have high hopes for fennic if they can speed it up, since I like Firefox as much as I do (3.5 iS quite nice) Until then I will prolly just use whatever is easiest to get to in the ROM flavor of the week

Re: Whats your favorite Web browser?

Another fairly nice browser, which is alot like opera mini, give or take a few features, is Bolt. Its a java based browser just like mini, and works very well. It would be my top browser of choice, but unfortunately it doesnt save passwords. Its still in beta form, so hopefully that issue will get straightened out.

Heres the link to bolts website and download.

Re: Whats your favorite Web browser?

i use PIE, Opera, and Skyfire for different things..... if i want to look something up quickly i use PIE (quicker load time). if i want a more well rounded browsing experience that's easier to naviate i use Opera. Skyfire is seldom used, i just haven't found a stable version yet and it always seems to crash on me. overall i prefer opera for most uses.
