Re: Whats your favorite Web browser?
My experience-
IE, Opera 9.5/9.7/mini, Skyfire, Netfront, Iris, Fennec, UCWEB. These are the browsers I currently have installed...which is patently ridiculous! The new IE is ok if a little slow and clumsy. The only browser I know of that will report the right device on sites like powerdeck. Opera Mini is the fastest and handles text the best but is inconsistent with links (sometimes they work, other times they don't). Operating in the java environment makes it less convenient to use, even with all the mortscript tweaks. Opera 9.5 is SLOW. 9.7 holds promise to bridge between 9.5 and mini but is early beta buggy. Skyfire is fast and best at flash but doesn't handle text and scaling as well as Opera. Netfront isn't any better than Mini at text, is slower and not free. Iris is as slow as 9.5 even though they tout its speed and messes up graphically on more than a few sites. Fennec is alpha buggy buggy buggy. UCWEB, the most popular browser in China...because they're probably forced to use it. I'm not, so I won't! It's just plain ugly.
I'm a longtime Opera mini user. I tried to use 9.7 as my go to browser but it's way too buggy at this point. Recently I find myself using Skyfire more and more. I hate all the home page junk and its page resizing could be better, but it seems to be the best compromise between speed and usability for me. I think that once the bugs in 9.7 are swatted, it could be the mobile browser to beat as long as they don't get caught up in the social network stuff Skyfire is mired in.
