For the price of a larger, tilting screen, an updated TouchFLO 3D and better speakerphone capability, we lose the following:
In a way, I'm glad there's a delay in the Sprint version coming out, because I really need to give serious consideration to the comprimises the TP2 would require of my usage habits. The $60,000 question is whether I would really be gaining anything (given what I would lose)... Eager to hear your thoughts on this... Matt Windows Mobile Louisville |

3.6 WVGA is very tempting but since it is an HTC phone I will pass. I have had enough problems with my TP to ever trust HTC again. Samsung only please.

Re: Touch Pro vs Touch Pro 2 (seeking TP2 users input)
It might not matter to you, but the Pro 2 does NOT have improved video drivers. I had a chat with a "friend" on a gaming forum - who thought the Pro 2 was great for emulators. But after running some benchmarks, we found out that the results were pretty similar.
In fact, after doing a head to head benchmark using TCPMP - my Touch Pro was a bit faster. Which I attribute to the extra pixels that have to be pushed on the Pro 2. In otherwords, expect some compatibility issues from the new screen - and no speed improvements. To me, it's not really an upgrade. |

I don't use the DPad much anymore either. I can't see the "upgrade" cost at $600 justified when we are getting what we already have, just with the bigger resolution screen. Thanks for all the input though, it really shed some light. I might have to hold out and wait for the Tegra it sounds.

So I'm curious (from a usability standpoint) of how you do some of the things I mentioned, without using the D-pad, particularly one-handed. Are you that accurate with your thumb?

Re: Touch Pro vs Touch Pro 2 (seeking TP2 users input)
actually yes, 6 years of practice (for me anyway) with Pocket PC Pro 2003 and WinMo 5/6/6.5 i've figured out land on the screen just the right way to get what i want, inside of some programs i use the stylus or d-pad but 99% of the time, it's all thumb

Re: Touch Pro vs Touch Pro 2 (seeking TP2 users input)
With enough practice and patience, we can learn to live without D-Pad like iPhone users. Or else, grow our nails longer and trim them like a stylus.
