Re: Updated June 24th* NFSFAN's Custom WM6.5 ROMs

So I've used this ROM for an entire day. Everything was working fine earlier in the day, even though keyboard lag issues are still present in this ROM. I had been running DCD's 6.5 ROM and there wasn't any keyboard lag.

Anyway, I was willing to forgive the lag because otherwise the ROM was pretty good. But then I went to the Orioles game with friends and the problems began. I picked up some friends at their apartment, which is a cellular dead zone. For some reason, this ROM experienced what can only be described as a catastrophic failure as we left the dead zone:

- it became extremely sluggish
- the "Home network" notification would appear and disappear and reappear and I was not able to dismiss it
- the task manager disappeared from the today screen and every time I went into settings to see if I could fix it, settings crashed and dumped me out to the today screen
- while locked, the phone would not display the correct time. It would only display the time when the lock was engaged, unchanging
- GPS would not work in Google Maps
- The phone dialer would crash in-call and the "End" hardware button would not end the call; had to soft reset to end call

I performed several soft resets on the Light Rail to try to fix some of these issues, but the problems only seemed to get worse with every soft reset. Eventually I gave up, but it was extremely frustrating to try and coordinate with friends at the game with a non-functioning phone.

I installed only programs that had been successfully installed on other ROMs (facebook, WMWiFiRouter, Opera, stuff like that) and I had been to the "cellular dead zone" many times before with other ROMs and have never experienced problems like these, or any problems remotely similar.

Right now my phone is charging and as soon as it's beyond 50%, I'm getting rid of this ROM and going back to DCD. Flashers beware of this ROM.

Re: Updated June 24th* NFSFAN's Custom WM6.5 ROMs

I'm not sure about this ROM because the current ROM I'm using is doing the deed for me. I, however, am a NSFAN fan. I flashed his 6.5 vogue rom as the first flash ever and it worked like a charm. I'm not sure about the specifics of his mistep but I'm sure whatever it was it didn't injure anyone and certainly wasn't more than what anyone else has done in their own life. I'm sure he regrets it mightly and won't travel that path again. Yesterday and today are already gone but tomorrow lasts forever.

Just for the wolves, I believe that it is either a Beatles or Lennon song/quote but I know it isn't accurate which is why I didn't quote it. I don't want anyone thinking I made/stole it.

This is exactly why I keep an assortment of current BU files on my 16 gig card at all times. You never know when you may have an unexplained problem like this causing you to have to hard reset.

My TP got stuck on the WM 6.5 boot screen about a month ago as I was leaving for work & absolutely NOTHING I tried would get it running again. I desperately needed it to work that day, so I finally did a hard reset & then a full restore of an SPB BU file made after I installed & tested all my everyday programs/apps etc.

By the time I pulled in the parking lot at work, the restore was completed & the system was good as new again. That was a month or so ago & it has worked just fine ever since.......

That sucks!
Never have had any of those issues and I have had each version of this ROM flashed on my phone. In fact I travel on the a train two times a day and each time we travel through a couple cell phone/data dead zones and never had the issues you are describing.

POint being is that's a little over the top. Just cause you have some freak issue with your phone does not mean there is a catastrophic failure with the ROM. More then enough people running this Rom with no issues or at the very least none like you talk about.

Actually, I went back to DCD's 1.05 and my TP is humming along like a champ. Going back to stock before my next flash is actually good advice, though. I'll probably do that just to be sure, but my days using NFSFan's ROMs are over.
