Re: remote desktop to ubuntu
i have Remote Desktop, turn on and set up on the ubuntu box,
and on my TP i go to Remote Desktop, and just try typing in the external ip of my home network, and click connect..... doesn't go, i have ports 3389 forwarded to the ubuntu, as well as 5900, for both tcp and udp... i can't connect, do i have to fill in the domain field on my TP RD, or can i leave it blank.. |

Re: remote desktop to ubuntu
I haven't used Ubuntu in a while, but don't they use VNC as opposed to Microsoft's RDC? If that's the case (and I'm sure it is) then you should be using one of the WM compatible VNC viewers.

Re: remote desktop to ubuntu
Also,
You will want to make sure you are putting the port in the ip address. Example: http://192.168.1.101:3200 At least this has been my experience with RDP and VNC on a computer to computer basis.

Then it's just a matter of basic VNC or RDP on your TP which is easy enough. |

Re: remote desktop to ubuntu
im no expert, but i dont think remote desktop will work with linux. Remote desktop is setup to use the windows protocol. As stated above, youll want to obtain a veiwer to use the linux protocol. get on the ubunutu forums and youll find what you need to know to get it setup right.

Re: remote desktop to ubuntu
It does in fact work. I use it all the time with my gentoo server. Ill see if i can dig up my config files later and help you out I just use 192.168.0.1:1 if your computer is setup right. Try this link here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/VNC
