You have to make sure you're using the POP3 protocol if you want your emails to be retained on the server.

you could always use sktools to make a "snapshot" of the registry,
and then change that value, and then make another "snapshot" of the registry after and it'll compare the two.

From the email icon on slider go to menu> accounts>accounts> menu> options>Tap your provider>edit account set up keep on hitting next to you see advanced setting
