Re: To Pre or not to Pre?

The Pre is a totally sweet looking device, but the problem is that it is a very new OS with very little OS support. The problem with most of us is that we love to hack up our devices and are never satisfied with a "stock" phone.
I just don't see that happening with the Pre for some time. When more webOS devices are released and there are more providers you will see alot more devoloper and community hacking for this device. Its just going to take a while

Re: To Pre or not to Pre?

It's a sweet looking device, like the ui and how you can switch between tasks.

That said, it can't compare to a WM device. I'm completely dependent on syncing with outlook and msmoney. My calendar, my contacts, my notes, my tasks, my money..... my life!

I wouldn't mind if someone got creative and developed a task switcher like that. Now that would be sweeeeet!!!

Re: To Pre or not to Pre?

I gotta say i was completely hooked on it. I went through all of engadgets material and reviews and was impressed by what i saw. I really would like this phone. I went to sprint store up in overland park today and they refuse to work with me in anyway on the plans, just like the instinct. The messed up part is i have all the same stuff as the simply everything, but the reps there said since i share minutes with my parents plan i cant activate a pre on my account unless i break off and go to simply everything. I wont get but 75 off cause i got the mogul back in may of 08 and it just cant justify it. So as of now, im waiting for what Apples gonna front out. I'm about to activate my MotoQ and sell my TP(will post it in bargain forum first) and wait to buy the new iphone. my dad can use the motoq as his data phone while he is truck driving for all i care. I was willing to spend about $600 with sprint after accessories, activation fees and taxes but since they wont work with me, ill get a $200 iphone instead and save the big sum of money. It's sad really.

Re: To Pre or not to Pre?

For now, a Windows based phone due to the popularity it shares among developers. We will see an increase of games and applications as these phones are the "it" thing now. The Pre does look good fo' sure but looks geared to those just needing a phone with those apps, features and functions. The business man, the housewife.....Etc. For the upgrading, change this, do that people like ourselves it will never do.

And i'm also on board for the TP2 (Bearing reasonable upgrade price) since my second line has been OOC for quite awhile. I'll pass down my TP to my girl who will be happy just to have a keyboard (HTC Touch).....

Anyway....just an opinion, that's all.

Re: To Pre or not to Pre?

I like WebOS. I think its raising the bar when it comes to cell phone OS. I've had a WinMo device for a few years now and I haven't been wowed yet with the new versions on WinMo coming out. The biggest thing for me that I can think of is threaded text messaging.

But i'm really excited about WebOS and all of its features. There are always small freezes with WinMo phones no matter what ROM I run. Looking at videos of WebOS it just looked so smooth

I'm definitely not getting the Pre. It's nice...but i'll wait a year on WebOS and see how its doing then with application support and such

Re: To Pre or not to Pre?

No more HTC devices for me. I will stick to my pro since it love the sharp crisp vga screen but hate the 72xx cpu. Im not sold on the Pro 2. Its like spending 600 dollars for a slightly biger screen and louider speaker. And they took away my flash and gave me another 3.2 mp camera. booooo!!!! Fix your drivers htc.
