Re: Alltel Touch Pro GPS Help Thread

hello, i haven't messed with my new alltel TP since i got it a few months ago, but I'm now missing GPS like i had with my 6800, could someone direct me to the right links or threads for the step by step for flipping on GPS and such, i see you all mentioning it here but not providing links to the threads or files themselves, and searching brings me on nothing but wild goose chases. Thanks in advanced guys!

You probably have to turn the gps on. Seems Alltel ships their phones with it turned off.

1. click start
2. click settings
3. click Personal
4. click phone
5. click services at the bottom
6. select location settings and then click get settings
7. make sure your phone is set to on and then soft rest
8 run quick gps

Now it should all be working. Maybe an easier way but this has worked for me...Phil

Yea as far as getting "QuickGPS" to work without that error, you must do what he said in the post above me. Turn on your location settings... Still won't make the GPS work in this area...

Yea, i am still skeptical tho because I have read that when people sign up for the Alltel Nav software it works fine. I don't know whether it does in this specific area or not, but people have said it locks on way better with that software, then when they cancel it it goes back to not working well.

I haven't tried the software myself because I have a cooked ROM and it didn't include the alltel programs.

I'm assuming you are running the stock TP FW provided by our lovely Alltel. I don't have any experience with the stock FW because I unlocked and started flashing same day, so I can't be of much help there.

The only advice I can recommend is to follow the instructions for unlocking your TP in the stickies, then begin having some fun with the TP roms. I would recommend Juicy's Roms (check my sig). GarminXT and Google Maps lock signals quickly.

Re: Alltel Touch Pro GPS Help Thread

I don't know if I mentioned anywhere yet, but I have Conflipper's Telus ROM for Alltel. I like it a lot, but it didn't seem to do anything for my GPS connection.

Re: Alltel Touch Pro GPS Help Thread

I feel your pain. I recenlty went a trip that took me to Sarasota, and my GPS worked perfectly all the way until I got to Sarasota. It would not connect for crap until after I got closer to Ocala a week later. Don't know what the deal is but it is defenatly something to do with Sarasota.
