Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
Only problem with PointUI is that it seems to be difficult to program applets for it. Developer base isn't that strong...

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
yeah this is great! and check out teh calendar app i'm running, it's in the first post. So far i have no problems/glitches/issues whatsoever.

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
I've used PointUI for while, but had to drop it. It was conflicting with SU2U and WM 6.5 features. It would hide or hang apps, or simply not let me take a call. I tried it with several different ROMs, but got the same results. It has a good foundation but needs some time to work out the bugs and develop betters apps. The Community apps are not always well written so be careful what you load.
I've tried almost all the UIs (e.g. Titanium, TF3d, today plugins, Point UI, RL,...) but they all had issues. I finally switched to SPB 3.1 and haven't had to tweak it since the first setup. So. I'm going to stick with this until I get the itch for a new UI. |
Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
so, do any of the applets work with the free version?
edit, never mind. registered over there and actually looked around. |
Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
I love the subspace theme (screenshots show subspace theme combined with darkmatter applets of weather and today)

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
I'm running silence's rom 6.1 rv2, and it has s2ul cooked in. It works just fine. I have no issues whatsoever with any other software I run.
I am running the home2 pro |
Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
Loving pointUI so far! Thanks for the heads up on this! but one question ghetto... how do you install that infiniti theme? When you unzip the file you get a folder that says infiniti23 and if you double click that you get few folders and various files. I extracted that whole infiniti23 folder to the theme directory and I tried extracting each individual folder and file to the theme directory but cant seem to get the theme to work either way. It shows up in themes but when I click it, it restarts and then applies the default theme. Think you could help me out?

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
Just reaized it was an applet and not a theme...thanks again for the find!

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
how do you get home2 to start @ launch ?

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D

program files -> Home2 -> AppletRibbon It should now be one of several folders in there. It shold be called inifiniti23, you shuold also see Today, tasks and World folders. Then once you select it home2 restarts and it should be displayed. If that didn't work remove the theme and start again with a fresh unzip! *** edit *** oh, haha well now you added the applet :P |

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
I gotta say, PointUI Pro was the best money i spent on my phone thus far. I'm using the wm7 theme and love it. It's quick, responsive and so easy to customize. and the plugins grow more everyday making it so easy. I found the SMSOnly plugin to be a fav for me since im a huge texter and dont use any other messaging portions on my phone. I put my full recommendation for this, give it a try first of course so you dont sink money into something you may not agree with me on.

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
So...wuts the big difference between the regular and Pro? I'm only using the regular free version and love it.
|
Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
Small stuff IMO. the site lists off you can only have 6 plugins instead of 9. few other things too. Just as much fuctionality to the free version as the pro version. its not crippled software so that they expect you to buy pro.

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
Subspace doesnt seem to fit my phone properly. when i look at the favorite contacts the bottom row is cut off
|
Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
messaging still needs a lot of work. TF3D still beats it in this area.

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D
Loving this! One thing I realized is ALOT of Applets WILL NOT work with the regular version. For example I tried forever to get infiniti home to work on the regular and it would not work no matter what I tried! So I spent the $20 to get Pro and walah, ALL the apps that wouldnt work before I bought the Pro version now work!! just and FYI for people out there that cant seem to get some applets to work. I think alot of them you have to have the pro version.

Thought there are other small differences. I think additional options for other configurations. Also there is more code support for the pro versions. So that's why some software is specific to pro and some to the free version. |

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D (Updated 6-3-09)
The UI is very quick and responsive. i have not experienced any lag on mine and i've had my TP on for over 4 days continuously with no issues to PointUI. In regards to the Pro/Free messaging difference. On the free version if you hit the envelope on the 4 button home row it just opens up tmail.exe and lists your sms/exchange/any other emails to choose from. The pro version, when you hit said button, brings up a list of messages you recieve. You can filter it to show only emails, picturemail, sms, or show all. You can also hit create up top and choose what type, sms, email, etc and it will open straight up to a new message screen read for contact and message to be typed... I like it far better than the Rhodium SmS setup, that think just annoyed me, but it could be due to its ported nature, perhaps it works better on the actual TP2 when they are released. Personal opinion for me is that PointUI > TouchFlo. But thats me :D

Would u say it was worth the $20? Might get it friday if u say "yes"

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D (Updated 6-3-09)
I'm very very cheap when it comes to phone software. If i can't find a good working free alternative, ill break down and buy it, depending on the price. I've seen far less sophisticated software sell for $40 bucks. I urge anyone who is on the fence to try the free version first if they haven't. with the exception of the locked pro features the fluid speed and functionality is the same for the most part. If you also know your going to keep on Windows Mobile phones you can bear in mind it can travel with you. I bought it and im about to go buy a Pre on saturday cause of the uses i need for business. Still best piece of $20 software i have gotten..

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D (Updated 6-3-09)
PointUI is awesome! I've been using it for a while now. I tried running it on my Mogul but it used too much memory. Now that I have the Touch Pro it simply blows away TF3D! I love it! I'll have to post some screen shots when I get a chance. Soooo much you can do with this program. I highly recommend it! BTW, I'm running Home2 Pro.

Re: PointUI (Home 2) : Faster than TF3D (Updated 6-3-09)
Has anybody noticed excessive battery drain from PointUI??
I am running Merdin's awesome 6.5 ROM & switching back & forth between his black/red TF3D2 setup & PointUI Pro: http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...creen01-13.png http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...Screen01-3.png In PointUI I have basically the same apps that I have in TF3D2. I installed the stock tracker, the 5 day weather, the flip clock & the calendar app. When I use the TF setup, my battery life is absolutely incredible, it is much less so running PointUI & I can't figure out why. I have been checking all the settings etc to make sure I don't have the weather or stock updating 100 times an hour or something stupid like that, but I can't find any obvious reason that there should be much (if any) difference in battery life between the two setups. |
