Sadly this isn't true. I had problems with a couple of apps.

I'm not sure if it is Pro or the recent update. I bought Pro at the time of the update. But my app for the free version wouldn't work for the updated Pro.

all the free apps are designed to work on PRO as well as the apps made for the PRO version.

Then it must have been the update. Cause not all my apps worked.

The problem with PointUI is that there are very few good available applets, and most of them are full of bugs. That's because they're all made by end users who aren't that good at programming. I think the PointUI guys should develop a bunch of killer applets of their own.

I completely agree! It's a great program...just need to unlock its potential :(

Ok I installed the latest update, and removed applets that the latest version report have bugs. Now point UI seems to run fine.

As for the lack of good applets, I agree that there is a great lack of good applets and themes. Now that its running stable again I am very happy with this UI. It's far more useful and speedy than touchflo 3d

I've installed countless themes and add-ons for touchflo 3d and it's never caused my entire phone to reboot.

The thing about pro, is that it gives you wider coding ability. So in short, the apps and themes can do much more on the pro version than on the free version. That means more things can go wrong if the writers of themes/applets don't check their work.

It's like saying i'm not going to WM 6.5 because it crashes, they should have just left it at 6.1... they both have issues, but they're different issues.

well it seems with the new version Point ui is now able to check for apps that will cause point ui to crash so you can remove the app/fix the issue. Now I am much happier.

hahaha i saw the light but it was just too bright! :P

I am still running the same apps, i just added the 5 day weather someone threw up, maybe you?

I like the new SR, but i don't like the finger menu and the all in 1 notice bar... that's why i don't run it.

Also I hate slide 2 unlock, it's driving me nuts.

Is there a way to disable the text/email program in Pro and have it like they do in the free version? I don't much like there's and would rather stick with default windows

i dunno, you can remove the messaging app that comes with home2, but i am using another messaging app mod, it should be in post #1 if not lemme know. it doesn't add a whole diff module, but it modifies the existing one

If you have the pro edition, and possibly with the home edition, you just have to search the .cs files that you want and have them open whatever program you want.

So if you wanted to change the left soft key, you just look for the entry for the left soft key, like for instance in Home2/Common/ScreenFavContacts.cs, and replace whatever function it is with ProcessStart("tmail.exe", "-service "SMS""); for SMS or without the modifier for tmail.exe.

the lack of Applets is a bit of concern... all of them seem to be "repeats" of the same type (ie, how many clock applets can you have??)

It is a bit ironic that the strength of PointUI is its versatility with applets, in reality might be it's downfall (lack of really really cool applets).

so if i wanted to set the right soft key to home2's task manager, what would the command be? if you could type that up for me i would be very appreciative!

a full theme?

Well, if it comes in a zip or rar file, you uncompress that.

Once uncompressed, if it's in a cab file you install it and that's it.

if it comes in a directory (folder) then you copy that to the /themes/ folder on your phone.

that's it!

oh, that's the easiest part dude!
you go into menu
then customize
then "change theme"
and click on your theme of choice!

I've used PointUI from time to time... I actually think it has more potential han TF3D but the problem is that it's so community driven.

I have the same complaints as you.... too much of same. Need more new/different applets.

Wow your Point UI is running fast compared to mine. I am running the Sense theme. Seems like there is always a delay when i hit buttons.

1. Home Screen. Has time/clock, weather, ability to turn phone off on-screen (via button), blue tooth, wifi, temperature (easily set!), call history, programs, contacts and sms/mail. Theme for pointui is easily changed!

Infinty looks sweet, but I'm having some issues. If you've found a way to get these workin let me know!
1. Weather won't work. I've copied the 'World>Cities' file over and it doesn't give me anything to choose from the menu. Don't know what I'm doing wrong.
2. Battery icon in the digital globe?
3. Signal icon in the digital globe? Can't get it to work!

Thanks!

If it's not working for you, I suggest you re-read the install instructions carefully again. The reason is the last i knew (before any pending updates) is that it was like a 2 part install. First you install the original files, then you patch them.

Keep in mind everyone that once you have your "set up" in place. you don't have to "start over" everytime you flash your phone, you just literally copy all the files in the home2/applets directory and paste them back in after your flash (and install of pointui home2) and that's it!

give it a try as the instructions aren't always easy to get the first time around.

Each app has its advantages & disadvantages & I am having a terrible time trying to just stick with one or the other (although that's not exactly a bad problem to have)

I find speed-wise they are dead equal as merdin's setup is lightning fast so it loses nothing there to PointUI. I definitely like some of Rhodium's features a little better than PointUI, but the simplicity & speed/smooth operation of PointUI is pretty appealing also.

I used MobileShell 3.0 for a while also, but got bored with it pretty quickly. When I first installed it, I thought the spinning cube was totally awesome but I quickly realized that I never really used the cube for anything & it's one of those "cool features" you show other people but never actually use for anything.........

~John

I agree w/most of this. Although, it might just be my particular setup w/Merdin's rom, but PointUI is a little bit faster. But I do experience a lot more freeze-ups using PointUI. Another thing, when I choose a wallpaper it's not centered ?

That's one reason I stopped using PointUI...b/c the wallpaper doesn't get centered/resized to fit like it does in Titanium or Manila.

But I still install it whenever I flash
